changing muffler advise

Hey
well hopefully in the new year or earlier I'm gonna have time to finally look into the exhaust.
I wanted to know if anyone has changed out the muffler only and if I should watch out for anything
I don't want to spend the extra and do a full cat back as I just want to add a bit more "truck sound" by changing out the stock muffler to a magnaflo muffler.
I did it on my ranger and was happy but i just want to confirm if with the newer trucks and such would I set off any sensors and such.
I can get the cat back for under $900 and the muffler is about only 120 which is better to my budget as I have other things to look at. would rather get the full cat back but not really in the cards.
so any input would be great
Glenn.

Depends what sort of condition the pipes are in I would think, as far as sensors, most of that is located downstream of the cats, doing a straight muffler swap shouldn't hurt.

Youtube is your friend when it comes to finding a sound you like. Hard to tell for just a muffler though as most also have modified the piping. If you get a muffler make sure you get the proper size inlet/outlet for your truck.
