D Ring Shackle

Picked up a couple coated 3/4" 6 and 1/2 ton shackles with 7/8 pin the other day. Gonna be used in my receiver block. Just wondering from the avid offroaders here if these will be strong enough for a half ton on half ton recovery in mud or snow. They will be attached to a 3"x30' Rugged Ridge recovery strap.

They've never let me down. I have two on the tow hooks so its easier to mount the strap to it. Used them to pull my 150 and my uncle's 250 4x4 4 door diesel so you wont have to worry about the shackles. Strap will be the weak point.

Then I'd say your good for 6.5 tons, safely.

Yea.....I'm used to holding 30 ton LAV shackles in my hand and this 6 1/2 ton one just looks so small lol. Thought I'd check.

is it a recovery strap or one designed for hoisting ? the hoisting one while strong wont stretch enough to take a shock load of a recovery and will break if trying to snatch a vehicle... one designed as a recovery strap will stretch like an elastic band and works 10x better.

Shackles should be good but if they aren't name brand (ie Crosby) or have the load rating on them then avoid them... a lot of crap from over seas that in no way passes a load test and fails way before a reg rating.
