There is is.:icon_question: (the title)
My question to anyone here.
I am in the market for a truck.
Am leaning STRONGLY on an F150 FX4.
I thought I want an s/cab as there is only my wife and I and our dog.
I can't really see a need for a 4 (full size) door truck.

Everyone; Please give me your opinions on what you bought 4 door or not and why.

In advance
Thank you.

All I can say is I love my regular cab, until I have a passenger, my dog and stuff I don't want to put in the box. I would go extended cab...or Reg cab with tonneau cover....If you plan on having kids in near future go 4 door for sure.

I customized my tonneau cover to fit around my roll bars(I rarely put it on)

fx4 2005 and below
Super Cab 98 ltr tank with 6.5' box
SCREW 113 ltr tank with 5.5 box
2006+ screw and up it was an option to go to 135 on 6.5' and 113ltr was a standard on 5.5' box

Agree
so do I
I had 6.5 on my FX4 and now 5.5
5.5 looks so much better

I have an '08 F150 XLT S-Cab, and I think on the 4 door models the front doors seem to be smaller then on the s-cab. We have 4 door F150's as work trucks, and the door pilar seems to be right beside your head. Maybe it's my imagination, but I love the look of my s-cab, 6.5' box.

When it comes to the decision of the crew versus extenda, it's not what your putting on the inside it's what you have planned on the outside. Once the crew was offered in a 6.5 ft box it was a no brainer for me, best of both worlds and in doesn't look as dis-portionate. But since your are looking a few years back you won't find the Supercrew with 6.5ft til late '06 models. Also if your going to tow, the longer the WB the more control you have while towing. As far as what you put in the cab, I have a Supercrew and rarely have more than one passenger with me with the exception of the occasional road trip to Detroit for sporting events and what not. Having the four full doors is a definate plus even without a truck load of people.

You may find a better deal on a Supercrew, as there were more sold in '04 and '05 than extendacabs. Mainly because the price difference between the 2 when new was $400, compared to $3000 more if you wanted to go to the crew over extenda in '03.

Thanks, very interesting on the price difference.
I have not found as many s/cabs as s/crews. I honestly did not give it much thought. I do know there is enough room in the rear of the s/cab for someone to sit. I personally would not want to drive across country sitting back there but for a couple hour trip north I think it be ok for someone. :icon_biggrin: NOT ME off course; as it is MY truck. hehe
The dealership is to get back to me on their findings from the lease return site this wednesday, perhaps I should include s/crews in their search.

In regards to towing the items I had in mind where;

sleds on trailer
possible boat (no greater than 22')
soon as I save up some coin, back to my search for a '67 - '68 Fastback Mustang (big block / stnd) so a trailer for that.

I do like the look of the s/cab, so that may be a factor in my decision. OH well time will tell. If there is nothing returned from the search this Wed. I need my $2k deposit back as interest charges will start at the end of the month. :icon_cry: I'm not paying for something I don't have.

Great friendly site & looking forward to getting in my truck and meeting up with y'all one day soon.

When I purchased my 06 screw, I had no idea there was an option for the 6.5ft bed. I had the salesman put the 5.5 and 6.5 Screw's side by side so I can take a look.

For sure the 5.5 looks a lot sportier, but for myself pulling a 27ft travel trailer and to put all our bikes, fire wood and gear, I had to go for the Screw and 6.5 bed.

one thing bout ford is the box.. deepest on the market. i noticed this when i put my great dane in the back. usually you can see under her belly when she stands in the back of my old chev. when i put her in the ford the box rail comes mid chest on her... i like that alot.. feels safer

I have the Supercab, I dunno, I can usually get all of my work gear in the back seat when I'm headed out to camp. Thats the main criteria for me. The 6' box I have on mine is nice too. I don't like the look of the 6.5' box on the S-crews I think it looks kind of goofy. My Dad has an 04 S-Crew with the 5.5' box and it looks pimp. I'd say if you aren't hauling people all the time get a Supercab.
