I have a 1980 F-150 with a H.O. 302 out of a capri, and a 4 spd manual transmission.
I would like to swap my current trans to a 5 spd, where would I find one for my truck?
I know that the 5 spd.'s from the Mustang/Capri are shorter than the truck trans, and possibly have a different bellhousing.
Can someone help me out?

:sign0137: auto
I like being able to feel the power of the vehicle that I'm driving.
It's much more fun to bang through the gears.

I did a little bit of poking around and the 5 speeds for Mustangs and trucks are totally different. The 5 speed from the truck has a hydraulic clutch where the mustang has a cable clutch. Plus the Bellhousing on the truck tranny is all part of the tranny case. There fore you'll have to find one from the wreckers or do some modifications to your truck(ie.tranny cross member) to fit a T-5 from a mustang. If you go the Mustang tranny route there are some killer trannies on the market. (ie.Tremec TKO-600). I have a Tremec in my Stang and it rocks.:icon_biggrin:
