New F100 out in '09???

This maybe a question the guys at Blackstock can answer.

My friend was having his 06 ranger serviced at the dealer and the mechanic told him Ford was coming out with the F100 next year. Supposed to be bigger than a Ranger and smaller than the F150. The guy said they would be using the existing chassis from one of Ford's SUVs.

Any truth to this?

the ranger's the last "small" pickup, everyone else went mid-size, so ford just wants to follow suit. but from what ive heard its gonna be a dinky uni-body garbage.

It's all being kept pretty "Hush, hush" at the moment really. I even went to the Canadian Auto Show in Toronto, and none of the Ford Reps could even tell me the future of the Ranger.

In my opinion, I would like to see them change it and I don't. I like the small compact truck idea, but having the same 2.3, 3.0 and 4.0 L engines, the same bland interior/exterior is kinda of getting repetitive. I'd like to see them bring it more up to date to a mid size truck (Something similar to the new Dakota) and maybe with the new 3.5L 265 HP Cyclone engine (Currently in the Ford Edge)http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Cyclone_engine with a few more engine options thrown into the mix.

Don't get me wrong, I love my current Ranger (01 3.0L Ranger Edge) but something new would be nice, I'm sure most people would agree that have ever owned a Ranger.) As long as I can keep this baby alive, I'll just be saving up to purchase whatever Ford has to offer when the time comes.

I was told about the f100 as well. But I dont think it will be here in 09 cus we havn't seen anything yet and I too asked about it at the auto show and got the same responce. Maby for 2010? It would be a bitchen little truck if they rammed in the 4.6. Oh think of the possibilities.

Well, Igor over at BlueOvalNews told us that Ford will unveil a new truck this summer, but nothing more... It's maybe a Ranger replacement, or maybe they want to do like GM, and bring the Australian Falcon Ute here :icon_razz: .

unfortunately no, and with the news about tne Raptor - the "new truck coming this summer" spot might have bee taken... some say the Transit Connect is the Ranger replacement - at least until the AU built T6 platform is ready, but that is just a speculation I have heard. I will keep you updated if I do find out anything new.
