Have any of you run these before and if so what are your experiences?
I'm looking at a set of headlamps and fogs but I have heard horror stories where they have melted wiring..

I've been running some cheap ones I bought off ebay for 3 months now in my headlights and fogs. Great visibility I drive in the dark a lot and I haven't had any melting issues yet, the lights get bloody hot but nothing has melted...so far.

If you're looking at buying HID's, then put out the extra money and by the real thing trust me. You're better off putting the extra money out and receiving a good quality product that will last you for the lifetime of your vehicle. You buy the cheap kits, and you can do major damage to your vehicle if something blows... like your whole wiring harness... and that is not easy and cheap to fix/replace either. And technically, you're bulbs shouldn't burn hotter as normal/decent HID's kits should be running at a max of 35W, not 55W like your standard hologen bulbs.
I just bought a 8000K Philips Dual Stage HID kit with 8000K HID Foglights off of a buddy of mine for close to $250. I haven't installed it yet, but I'll post pics when I get them installed.
Hope this helps you out a bit...

Glad you like these bulbs, I have them sitting in a box. My day time running light right side only was not working. I decided to go thru the fuses. Fuses all OK but had slight discoloration, (moisture corrosion), decided to replace them ALL with the new luma LED fuses that glows when fuse blows! Anyways that fixed the running light so havnt changed the bulbs yet.

So I went and bought Silver Star Ultra's.

Now to find Fog bulbs of the same light type.

just buy HIDs well worth it. The are 35w and no change of melting anything. And brighter.
4500k In headlights
6000k in fog lights. Bright as day
seller on ebay is HID4U . Under 100$ shipped to your door.
