I got bored this evening so I sketched out a couple projects. Yeah I said sketched. I suck at photoshop. So don't laugh at my crappy drawings. lol

This first one shows the front bumper and roof basket. For the front bumper I plan on making it pretty stout in the centre so you could actually pull from the D-rings. The outside where the light pockets is going to be much thinner to keep the weight down. For the roof basket I'm going to the boneyard to pick myself up a roofrack. Then I'm going to build the basket to suit. There will be 4 pockets in the wind deflector for lights which I'm thinking I'll cut to fit some 4" lights.

Ok so on to the pics. Remember no laughing. Constructive criticism welcomed though. :icon_biggrin:

I messed up on the sizing for the roofrack on this one.

Now for the rear.

I drew this one up to try and match up with the front. It will be built much the same way except I want to incorporate A class 3 hitch into it. I may makethe sides more stout for the rear in case I want to add a spare tire carrier later on. I'm still debating whether or not to add some lighting into it.

Ok so what do you think?

First of all, I applaud your talent in fabrication, I'm crap at it so I don't...

Your front bumper once completed seems a bit low and might affect your ground clearance on approach, but other than that the mods look good.
Front and rear bumpers painted to match the truck?

I'm not a fan of the roof rack, looks too "Nissan-ish", maybe a different design?

Good luck with it.

looks good, have you thought of small lights in the back bumper, and a nice hole in the front for a winch? Look up Road Armour if you want more ideas. Not a big fan of the roof rack either, I find rack's in the box look better, that's only IMO

Very Nice photo job
Roof rack has to go
I would add extra fog in a bumper or in your grill
both bumpers look great

Don't forget this is your truck,
Some of us will love it and some of us will hate it, but you are the one driving it.
Enjoy and keep us inform on your bumper upgrade.

The front bumper will hang no lower than the stock one in the center and be about 6" higher on the ends.

I plan on getting them powdercoated gloss black if money allows. (read money=wife.)

please don't get those bumpers... have seen them on several f150's and absolutely hate them... don't flow at all and will make it look like you just slapped them on there

I won't be "getting" them, I plan on making them myself. I plan on trying to match up with the body lines as well as I can for this type of bumper. Hence the protruded and dropped center section to go with the grill.

I was thinking of more lights in the rear bumper I just didn't sketch them in there yet. Winch isn't needed right now. I could always modify it later on to fit one if need be.

About the roofrack.

I figured that if I lift my truck I'm going to need a spot for the spare since it won't fit under the box anymore. And since I need my tonneau for security purposes I figured a roof basket would fit the bill. So here was my inspiration for the roofrack:

Another option I've been debating is to put a larger basket on top of the tonneau. But the problem with that is if I ever take it off to carry my bike I'll lose the cargo space and the spare.

I'm still not sure which way I'm going with the truck yet. I'm just tossing around ideas and seeing what I can come up with. Isn't that half the fun?

I do appreciate the input, it helps out a lot. Thanks.

Who knows, I may just lower it, toss on a set of 20's and call it a day. :confused005:

Thank you..I was racking my brain trying to figure out why that rack looked familiar, yeah not a big fan of it but if you like it, its cool.

Yeah like Bush said, when I first saw that front bumper first thing I thought of was that looks like a Road Armour bumper, they have that mean Mad Max Road Warrior look to them.

Good job on the pics, better than I can draw.

NOOOOOOOOOOO, don't go to the dark side!!!!Go big or go home!!!:icon_lol:

I agree that those style bumpers are more for the superduty look, not to great on the 150's, If you make it yourself that helps cause you can make it a little smaller and match the lines like you had said....I think it was alot easyer to slap one of those bad boy's on and make it look good back when the truck's were squar, now a days it might be more fun to make it look good unless it's gonna be a bush pig and you don't care....lol

That will be interesting how will it look on the Ranger
How much would you want the bumper to stick it out?
I like it based on pictures

I'm thinking it will only stick out as far as the stock one in the center. Maybe an inch more and bring it in a bit under the headlights. Kind of keeping with how the grill sticks out on the Ranger. Toss in a set of 6" round fogs and maybe a grille guard.

All this may be a ways off now cause of how school is handling the projects this year.
