steve, the stieg port job looks good! i'll ahve pics up maybe this weekend of it. i do have a problem with it though and i e-mailed dyno bob to find a solution. there is a gouge/burr on the intake side of the blower. hard to describe where it is, but it just stick out and may interfere with the gasket, or when i torque down the plenum bolts it may break off and end up in my blower rotors and damage them when i start the truck!!!
as for a tune, i am going to woodbine maryland to see JJ at woodbine motorsports. he deals w/ lightnings and has his own (he was on an episode of "pinks all out" with a red lightning). JLP doesn't seem to have any time to talk to me, although i'm sure he is good at what he does, but JJ has spoken to me a few times and has helped me with some options. going to be a LONG drive..................
looking good, I like go fast trucks..
cant wait to see it go.

Sean when are you going to JJ's for the tune?
I am planning on leaving Sarnia Thursday May 1st early in the morning. to get to maryland around dinner time (about 950km drive). giving him my truck for a few hours that evening, then back in the morning to finish the driving part of the tune, then to the dyno for power numbers.
I have most of my trip planned so far with what gas stations to go to and such (i plan to the extreme) all with mapquest printouts...lol
you want to get yours tuned too?

that sucks man!!!
i'm working may 1st and 2nd. taking the days off! g/f and i are going to make a little trip out of it. might even stop in at washington after i get tuned (probably not as we would make rude gestures and get kicked out), then off to niagara falls for the friday night/saturday then back home.
i still have yet to get the days off work, it won't be a problem though.
i just finished planning all the gas stations with pics from mapquest so i know where i have to go and how far away they are from each other (all cuz im anal and have to have sunoco!)
even if you don't go im sure ill take lots of pics and i'll let everyone know what i think of him as a tuner for the trucks (sucks its a far drive!!)

I'm off that Friday-Saturday and Sunday, but for me to get the Thursday would be a hassle, plus I didn't know you were taking the GF (ya like I'd be able to go with out mine, lol) and I don't want to be the third wheel.
If you get the time Washington is pretty cool to visit, when I was there I parked at the train station (Union Station?) and walked around, the Smithsonian museums are amazing to see (there are several).
Do you have a GPS to take, if not you could borrow mine. You shouldn't have any problems with gas.
lightning25
04-07-2008, 12:33 PM
GPS eh....hmmm, that sounds like a good idea! i've just been printing off mapquest maps!
does the GPS allow you to set a destination too and give directions, or is your just a map?
you could still come, but i think you may have to take your own vehicle, as 3 will be a crowded ride for 10 hours! lol
bring the wife too....i need something to keep me busy (my woman), plus i still work in pickering and dont see her during the week...........cough, cough

maybe a change of plans, we may go to washington, not niagara....been there before.
who makes your GPS, and are you serious about me borrowing it?
Lightning Steve
04-09-2008, 09:16 PM
GPS in Nextar (Canadian Tire brand) nothing fancy but it works.
There are a couple of differant way of putting in a destination, but yes it shows you the route to take, and auto updates if you get lost of change roads.
Yep you can borrow it, no problem.
lightning25
04-09-2008, 11:24 PM
when can i pick it up?
i won't need it until the 1st of may, i drive to sarnia usually friday nights.
let me know when a good time would be for you.

I'm off this weekend-all next week and next weekend, tho I am watching my granddog (son's dog). After that I'll have to let you know what days I have off if ya want to meet up.

You could buy it.. and use it.. and if it didn't meet your expectations.. :icon_wink: You can return it..

So she’s finished!
After the last post I still had to put on the new pulley and drive shaft loop, fix the burr on the blower, install the blower and all vac hoses, fill the rad and intercooler systems, flash the PCM with a starter tune from JJ@WMS and start ‘er up.
I also painted the rusted EGR valve – looks a lot better now!!
http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc64/seansvt/IMG_3217.jpg
now to the pulley. So I open the box and man she looks shinny! I remove the old 4lb pulley and I decide I want a pic of them together, to see the size difference and such. Well I never did get that pic! I was too pissed off that I had waited over a month to get this pulley from the time I ordered it and it was the wrong size!! It was 8.75” from edge to edge….not a 6lb for sure! So I argued but they wouldn’t ship to have it here the next day – so more waiting!
I did take a pic of my old pulley though

due to the flaking of the intercooler’s hard lines that run of the pass side of the blower I decided to go the route of RIDE_THE and run heater hose instead of the hard lines.
I ran new lines the whole way, from the HX to the intercooler and from the intercooler to the res tank.

I messed up the drive shaft loop pretty bad! I figured the long piece of metal went above the drive shaft, but I noticed it was hard to get up there – I pressed on and got it up there. Then came the time to install the bolts – but the holes were off, and the holes on the lower of the frame rail were about the right spot to fit, $%*&!!! So it took me 3 times as long to get it back out and install it properly!

I had an issue with the SCT 2600MAF (I know, another issue). The bolt holes were not lined up 100% with the JLP forced air box, and the top hole, closest to the driver was stripped…wtf!
So, using my “skills”, and after a lot of swearing I decided to drill 2 opposite side holes larger than what they were to allow some “play” to line up the holes. I just clamped down the MAF and drilled through the existing holes.
http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/cc64/seansvt/IMG_3256.jpg
worked great!!! But I still had one bolt missing, and the hole was stripped!! So I found a smaller bolt, with washers and nut and fed it into the hole. Tightened it down and perfect! Looks retarded as the other bolts are different, but gives me something to talk about.

I flashed the PCM with s “starter tune” from JJ@WMS, although I forgot to remove the old SCT chip and it wouldn’t work – remove the chip first!
Now its time to start her up (not the first attempt, but she did start with no hesitation)

she runs pretty good. Shift from 2nd to 3rd is a little rougher than I’d like. Oh, and the service engine light is on – P0122 – I broke the TPS when installing, oops!! Getting a new one. Idles really smooth though, no missing either.

next weekend I’m driving to woodbine Maryland to see JJ! I can’t wait to see the results of all my hard work (and hard earned $$) – and to lay on her and paste 2 lines down the street!!
Getting new M/T ET streets may 9th, then going to the strip that night at grand bend in Ontario Canada if anyone from Michigan wants to come.

Looking good, sounds nice too! When you did your fuel filter did you take out the pressure from the gas lines? Sounds like you got a shower....lol

yep, took pressure out. had to as i put in a fuel pressure gauge, so i drained the pressure first by opening the gas cap. also by opening the schrader valve (where i tapped in for my fuel pressure gauge).
not so much a shower, but a bit more gas then i expected....and its hard to move when your on your back and the truck is less than 4" above your face...lol....i do love the smell of ultra 94!
