This isn't a huge problem, its not like the gas pedal sticks of doesn't work, but its a huge annoyance, and is taking some of the get up and go out of my 1994 ranger (just got it on saturday).
there is about 2-3 inches of play on the gas pedal before it starts to pull the throttle pedal. like i pull the pedal forward those 2-3 inches, and then let it go and it falls back the same 2-3 inches. i have to go through those inches before i get any throttle response.

and when i step on it, the truck gets going to a point, then i have my foot to the floor, and it slowly gets going.

any ideas on what it might be, or any help would be greatly appreciated

sounds like you have some slack in your throttle cable, maybe if you try looking to see how much slack is there that might help if you shorten it. there is a certain way to shorten your throttle cable so make sure you know how to before attempting
