Well I've been trying to decide whether or not to replace my 98 ranger with something newer. This is the last year for the ranger until 2010 or later so with the price of gas I've been contemplating a 08 3.0 Ranger Supercab. It gets decent mileage and has A/C which I don't at the moment!
Is there any 08 ranger owners out there? How do you like your 4x2?

I don't own an 08 but I have an 01 4x2 and I love mine. The 4x2 is a little sketchy in the snow but if you put on some decent All-Seasons like I did, it rides like a dream. You can't go wrong getting a 3.0 L either. They're one of the most reliable motors out there hence that's why it's been out for like... decades ! :icon_lol: How many Km's you currently have on your 98 Dave ?

I bought an 08 Ranger a couple months ago. I got it right after our last big snow so I can't tell what it is like in the snow yet. I like it in 4x2 and mine is a standard so it is peppy enough and very cheap to drive. And with 0% financing it was cheaper to buy then used.

I bought my 08 2wd in August. Great truck. The 3.0L is more powerful than I expected too. And the milage seems to be getting better(5800k on it now) As for winter I put 4 studded winters on it and 200 lb of sand in back..no problems at all. The LS axle would probably be even better.

They will be available in Canada Only for 2009, so don't rush into a deal

Yes, but how long is the 0% financing deal last. And Red85 insisted mine have the Limited Slip.

I have 138,000km on my ranger now and I love it but it doesn't have AC and i've priced out buying parts to do so and it's not worth it. I'm also sick of repainting the bumpers! If the rangers are going to be for sale in 09 maybe I will wait until next spring. I already have a set of snows for winter so getting another ranger would work out well too. I don't mind 3.slow either as it is dependable. The only problems I've heard of with them are the DPFE sensor (i've changed 2) and the cam syncro gear.

The Ford limited slip sucks! At least on my 2000 Ranger it does. When its dry it hops around corners. When stuck in snow one wheel spins the other does nothing and the diff squeels. Buy a locker instead.

I have an 08 Ranger FX4 and I love it. It's the 4.0 V6 and 4X4 but the way I looked at it was If I'm gonna spend the money for the truck, why just settle for the 4X2 3.0 when I can get the FX4 for a bit more and hell yeah the 0% financing don't hurt. Also the limited slip is way better than not having it, the way bugnut is describing it sounds like his has a problem because when I'm in mud both my tires are spinning and squealing is not a good thing. Definitely recommend getting one!!

I have an 08 Mazda B4000 4.0 Liter 4x4, same as ranger. I have about 15000 km on it and I am getting 22mpg highway. The limited slip works great on these trucks I find. I previously owned a 97 3.0 5 spd. The only thing I wish my new truck had was a std. trans. rather than auto. So my advice would be def. get a limited slip and 5 spd tranny, but consider the 4.0 L for a little extra power.

Or a FX4 standard with a 4.10 Torsen Diff. Awesome :icon_biggrin:
