Sweet!! How do you hook up the push button starts?

Pretty simple, I have my ignition diagrams and I will double check with switch diagrams but this is how she goes.

-Ground the S Button

-Tap into a power wire that is Hot in Acc, fuse it and attach to S Button

-Cut starter wire near ignition and add to S Button(or tap into the wire if you want button and\or turn key starts)

I plan on adding a relay just to make it easier on my electrical system, and safer

I will still have to turn the key to run position to turn on Acc, and unlock steering, also have P.A.T.S to keep happy, then insted of turning more to start it I will push the button and feel like a cool guy :)

My buddy had one in his old truck but Spinal just did it too, and reminded me about it with this thread http://www.fordtough.ca/forums/showthread.php?t=2903&highlight=start+button

I'm likin the headers! Sweet!

As for the button wire the power feed to the 12v constant line because it has the most available current.. if u wire it to the ACC you could be constantly blowing the acc fuse because the factory wiring wasn't built to power the starter..

simply put in the relay that doesn't allow the switch to get power unless the ignition is powered.
Also can power a relay to cut power going to the acc postion to free up power to go to the starter.. Like the key does when u turn it..

Also can add a relay interfacing with something in the truck.. Only allowing the engine start button to work if u do that action before hand.. ex.. powering the brakes turning on a relay allowing it to work.. or pressing the lock button.. just examples..

good mods... should dyno the truck before hand then add the exhaust see what it gives ya just an idea...

Not to sure were I would get a dyno test around home but I might look into that..

As for the switch I wasn't too sure about just the acc wire, but with a relay should I not go acc wire to button, from button to relay then let the relay do the actual starting by adding 12v direct and ingnition wire to relay that way the high current stays away from my start button(edited to explain better)

Just want to keep it simple.

are you going to keep it hidden for security or jus have it for kix? I always wanted to have one and put it under the dash so nobody could start my truck.

You still need the key to unlock steering turn accessories on to power the switch and my truck has P.A.T.S with the chip in the key truck won't start without programed key in the ignition..

Mostly just for kicks, it less practical but fun...:)

Thanks guy's I'm gonna put in some rubber trim to cover the bumper edge that I had to cut make it look nice and fancy and probably get a bar like SCRWZ welded on and bent with 1" pipe for lights.

It's fun when your bests bud's dad is a blacksmith and his brother has a computerized big plasma cutter rig. Gonna add a skid plate from the winch to the frame and have him cut a FORD logo in the middle too, you should see some of his work.

Thats sounds amazing nice
how long did take you to install it?

Bush_aholic
07-01-2008, 12:44 AM
Had the shop do it while I was at work so it would be ready to go when I got home, plus I did not want to deal with the two broken studs in the head....lol

If I had the time I would have got the shop to take out the studs floated the truck back home and did it myself but this was easyer..:)

I have the OBX SS long tube kit, but I really wanted the Dynatechs.....too much $$$....are a nice sounding kit though. I have a vid with just open headers before I put on the 3" magnaflow kit behind.

Looked like you were playing Peek-a-Boo in your vid....lol They sound nice but you can tell you were in need of some back pressure, should have a nice grunt to it now with the Maggie on there

Lol.....ya, that was the first time I cranked it over after installing them so I was checking for leaks. After that I bolted up the Y-pipe and the rest of the cat back and she sounds pretty mean when I open it up....a low growl at idle. First impressions are a good power increase.....my scangaugeII hit 295hp at 4400 rpms and and good 375ft lbs of torque from a rolling start with the pedal mashed. The guy at Gifford where I bought my scangauge tells me I'm roughly between RWHP and FWHP.....but I'll take it to a dyno and post the results sometime in Dec. I'm guessing I'm at the 230ish range at the wheels.....could be wrong.

I have the OBX kit too, but I took out the resonators and installed high-flows. I really liked the dynatechs but again the price was a little more than I wanted to spend since I also wanted a full stainless Magnaflow SI/DO cat-back. Looking at your pics of the dynatechs it is pretty obvious that the OBX's are a total knock off. That's kinda cool for me, but I'm still having a hell of a time getting the donuts at the collectors to seal completely.

Nice trucks by the way! I love the winch but it would get in the way of my intercooler :icon_biggrin:
