4 x 4 All the way!!!!

I usually end up using it minimum once a week all year round, I go for stretches of everyday for weeks at a time once in a while....winter I don't even bother unlocking the hubs most of the time :)

Lockable hubs, i loved them when I had them on my F250

yep, gotta love the manual stuff. hubs, transfer cases and trannys. more reliable.

I don't know everyone says manual is the way to go but I had the 99 F350 we changed two hubs in a year and a half, and I already changed a hub in the 06 F250 in march, My 99 F150 I used for work for the first year and I drive it hard from day 1 never changed a hub or serviced the vacuum lines since I bought it in 05(probably ready to go now that I said that...lol)

Stats show one thing but my luck shows another...lol Plus it's a PITA getting out in -40 weather to lock the hubs....our 03 F350 dually has auto\manual hubs, now that I like!

P.S. the hub that got changed in March the guy packed the bearings to much and the hub went again last month

i'm not familiar with the auto/manual hubs.

I never heard of it before either but it has automatic hub's and on really cold days they don't like to lock automatically with that truck, so you just get out and lock them it's pretty cool, probly had to do that about four times last winter.

It is almost embarrasing to use 4x4 here in the winter when the cheesy little cars are driving through with no troubles.

My Level II is the first vehicle I've owned with 4wd and I have to say that I doubt I'll own a vehicle in the future without it. It's right handy. Used it on more than one occasion this past winter to yank folks out of the snow.

Cheers,
D.

4x4 here, and Ive used both manual hubs and automatic.. Automatic is the best in my opinion, I hated having to dig my way just to turn the dial and sometimes it would be way to tight to turn by hand, especially if your hands are cold from ice and snow....

4X4 here and love it. Although all i really use it for is in the winter. We have just had some winters where it came in really handy. Plus there is the odd time camping where things are really loose or mucky that it comes into play again.

4X4 for me... I hope the winters near me warrant me getting the potential insurance of 4X4.

4x4's great, but doesn't do much to make you stop on ice any faster.:icon_eek:

Trust me - use 4x4 in the winter once or twice and you'll feel better about it.

4x4 lowered truck for summer(i have 2sets of struts and adj rear)4x4 makes for good launch traction and should be good when supercharged.:)

4x4.. does burnouts and still gets great traction in the ran and snow :icon_twisted:

I've considered swapping in an AWD t-case of sorts just for icy FSR driving but I haven't been able to find one that will bolt to the Ranger 5R55E tranny. Figured that since the front end's locked in all the time I mind as well put at least some power to it to keep it straight on slick days. LR

Mine started 4x2 but now it's 4x4. All gear drive. No chains in my truck. No timing chain and no t-case chain. So far, it does good in snow.

4x2 in my '03 supercrew 4.6l with limited slip and can do burn outs with both wheels spinning, but my '97 ext cab is 4x4 with mud tires, it won't do burn outs but will go almost anywhere!!!! Love it, best of both worlds!!!

My Expedition is kinda both.... I have A4WD which is like AWD and I also have 4X4. ( 4HI and 4LO) Plus I have 2HI if I wanna do burnouts.... but these 35's don't really 'burn' all that 'out'.
