Our 32' travel trailer when loaded weighs 10,500 to 11,000. When I move it to storage I leave my slide in unit on truck, truck weighs around 12,000 lbs with slide in unit installed, so combined weight approaches 22,000 lbs, without going out to check I think my GCVWR is 23500 lbs, so I'm almost there. Truck pulls it fine, need a little more of the on ramp, I don't punch it too hard with all that load. Though one time when travelling with trailer(no slode in unit, probably 18,000 lb combined), we had to merge very quickly onto highway with trailer on, I was impressed with how well we got up to speed with my foot on the floor. Truck is a 2007 F-350 Lariat, DRW, CC, PSD, 4x4, 4.10 LS

The heaviest thing I've towed was a 4x8 trailer full from front to back and to the top rail with patio stones. The truck pulled it no problem but the trailer on the other hand couldn't handle it. I bent the axle bad enough to get the tires to touch the inside of the wells at the frame.

The cost of a trailer $1500, The cost of a axle $200, being ale to brag about it PRICELES....

I've towed about 7000-7500 lbs. a few times from the house to the dump - demo'd concrete in a 6x12 dump trailer. It was last summer and I don't remeber the exact number but the scale read over 13000 lbs. - truck is about 6000 lbs. Several loads of excavated earth in the same trailer and a PC12 excavator. All were pretty short trips. I was pleasantly supplied how my little 4.6 did!

'93 4.0L 5 spd extended cab 4x4, 2200 kg/4800 lbs empty and 2700 kg/6000 lbs loaded according to the dump scale. Grizz 700 on 6.5' trailer, full camping gear. 265,xxx km and its getting a little tired, but it hauls it all up country weekend in and weekend out without complaining. The trailer's about 1200 lbs, would consider 1500 lbs safe behind the truck. More than that brakes and lower gears would make towing nicer. LR

Amazing to hear how easily the SD's pull, but even more amazing to hear what people pull with a Ranger or the V6 150!

I just found out that my neighbour drove about 100 km south into the US with a 2500 lb tandem axle trailer (one of those huge rental ones) and picked up a 3000 lb car (V6 Taurus) and brought it home, '87 2wd 2.9L 5 spd Ranger... The crazy bastard! Hmmm apparently it didn't like the hills so much, go figure... LR
