1997 - 2003 use a 5x135mm bolt pattern your truck uses a 5 x 5.5" bolt pattern same as 1999 - 2003 Dodge Ram 2wd and 4wd so if you found some 18" wheels for one of those that might be a easy fix

Jensen, I would just mount the rim on the truck just to make sure the fit is right before you even put the tire on it, But I am almost sure this will work any how post up some pic's if they work out for you and let us know what happens

i remember seeing a 94 style F150 with the stock 20" dodge rim on it.

cant seem to find any stock dodge 18"x 8.5 or 9
What would be the next easiest step? I am only willing to dish out about 800 max for some rims. and kaltire is asking about 220 per rim for the cheapest one and I need to call fountain about some procomp 7089 series or some vision 8107 series.

Talk to Blackstock they took care of me for rims, maybe they can have them shipped to your local Ford dealer or something.

apparently these all fit 5x5.5

1980-1996 FORD F-150 F150 F 150 2WD MODELS ONLY
1994-2008 DODGE RAM 1500 MODELS INCLUDING SRT-10, HEMI, 2WD AND 4WD MODELS
2004-2008 DODGE DURANGO
2005-2008 DODGE DAKOTA
can I put a 9"inch wide tire on a 8" rim or is the smallest that I can go 8.5? remember low pro so I thought that the tire would not sit properly.

I cant see that being a problem, what tire size are you looking at?

Jensen

tire dimensions are
235/40R18H XL
rims are 18x8

I dont think that tire will work well on your truck a 235/40/18 is 3.7" shorter than a 235/75/15 wicth is what your truck came with I belive

shorter, as in height, or width?

That would be hight
235 is your tire width
40 is your sidewall hight and I think is in mm 18 would be your rim size
Shorter would be the tire diameter

that link you provided was awesome it told me that when speedometer reads 60mph (96.6km/h) actual speed will be 52.8mph (85km/h): 12% slower. Is this the only thing that will not work well with my truck?

Yep thats the only thing
You use up more fuel as engine will have to turn higher rpms

thanks for all the tips, after all is said and done, the rims may be what kills this project, If my tire is 9" wide and the rim is 8" will I have to worry about blowing a bead if I take a corner too fast?
