I love to look at wheeling pics so lets see them. And it's been so long since I hit a real trail that I need some inspiration. I'll post some of my old ones later.

Just curious, when you guys wheel and you get water in your vehicles.. i mean if it's older im sure it's not a big deal.
But i'm almost positive i saw like a newer 2005+ f250 up to it's headlights in water there, surely that can't be good for anything electric in the vehicle, not to mention mold and stuff growing after the water.
And won't you be scared of hydrolocknig your engine

09-22-2008, 09:09 PM
well for me like that pic of me in the lake the passenger side had alot of water in it. I just took it into the shop and vacced up what water I could then dried it out real well.
But if you really get into water it is a good idea to dry it real good and also you should probaly change your transfer case and tranny fluid (same thing) and also you diff fluids as water will get into them. As for hydrolocking make sure you keep you intake above the water. As for electrical again just dry it out real good. This has seemed to work for me, I am sure more experienced wheelers will chime in.

yeah the white one i think u were refering to was a buddy it was a rental yep a rental so he didnt care that it got wet lol it was a basemodel so no carpet to worry about he took it back its there problem now i guess.... should have seen what he did to a gmc rental
extra insurance does wonders i guess
water does effect some stuff.... its snd thats a killer wrecks brakes real fast and if it gets into the bearings can get expensive fast and as long as you dont shut the truck off or try to start it when the tailpipes underwater it should be fine and a trucks airbox is generaly high up so unlikley (but not impossible)

09-22-2008, 09:29 PM
ahhh, i'd think rust would be a big problem too
LayinHp
09-22-2008, 09:41 PM
rust isnt bad unless you let the extra mud lay on the frame and packed against the body (underside) then the dampness will rot it out faster aswell as keep the winter salt there
not alot of saltwater here lol so way less rust that way

I never go into anything that i even think is too deep. I change the diff fluids lots and always make someone else go first :) Never had water in the cab yet.
Bush_aholic
09-23-2008, 01:43 PM
I hear ya on the let the other guy go first....
I have never had water come inside the cab in deep water with water deeper than the tires just don't stop moving. If you look at the blue 350 in my pic's above that was as he was coming out of the water it was deeper in the middle (part ways up the head lights) Let the boss drive my work truck through first that way if he broke it he couldn't blame it on me, he pays for it anyways....lol
I try to stay away from water had a buddy sink a truck because his tires were too big and they floated him out into deep water it was a little S10 all done up 4 days after he bought it.

This first one isn't mine, we were folllowing him on a "short cut" back to camp and this happened. Nobody got hurt but I'm sure he never heard the end of it from his mother in law in the passenger seat, which was completly under water just befor this pic was taken.

Thats why you have a nice truck and have quads to beat the poo out of....at least then you can still get back home.

We didn't do anything too crazy with it but the mud we did do was not an issue at all for it. It did better than I thought on the hill we tried and in the ruts on the trail. He wants to lift it now and get better tires lol Hook line and sinker :)

Yeah my wife won't let me take ours out for fun. That isn't a recovery cable there alongside it is it?
I have use it for work, going up some very steep dirt paths, but there was only a light coating of dew, quite dry underneath. The stupid jeep (in name only) company car, fwd only, couldn't make the same path on a totally dry day.
