Old coolant will gel up and look very similar to grease/oil
Do you have anything in overflow container?

I would go for a coolent flush ASAP, especially before it start to get cold.

BTW
I have never seen oil in the water
Its always the other way around, as water is under more pressure

Pressurize your rad and let it sit for a bit, and see if you lost any coolant
Also change your oil and coolant and see if the fluid in the rad looks the same as tranny fluid

If you pull the trany dipstick and its all cloudy and starting to turn pink more than red and clear you have a leak. I have never seen a factory internal cooler leaking. If it is than I would think that trany pan should come ASAP as any moisture in the trany is a bad idea....factory antifreeze is now red and as Matt says it will gel up and look like slime. Flush the coolant
and refill with Ford antifreeze and you should be good to go...

the 97-2001 f-150 used premium a/f(green)if you have "slime"in coolant and it is pink in color it is a leak from the trans cooler, has the trans been serviced lately?have seen seal on cooler fittings dislodged after flush hook-up for trans, check and see if these or loose, any other questions feel free to pm me.

( didn't even get a day out of it and the trans fluid was in the rad )
:) I got it fixed it was the rad the coil in the tank had a crack that was letting the trans fluid gets in to the rad. I put a new rad in and it is fine now.
