Thats awesome for you guys that like the warrenty, but personally I can't wait till my warrenty runs out then if it breaks I can fix it properly... I could do that now but might as well make ford pay for as much as I can right now. and I have never had anything fixed on this truck yet except the air conditioner.

My friend just bought an 04 used would he be eligible for the warranty? I am sure he is under the mileage.

I believe it's still only under 5 years but your friend should be eligible. If you don't drive a lot of miles it wouldn't be worth it.

one set of injectors pays for it.

Nah. My injectors cost $400.00 plus shipping plus another $107.00 for taxes and stuff. About $550.00 installed.

My engine was replaced under warranty in 05. I wonder if it would be eligible for this.

i hope you guys realize when i say"my futures looking brite"it's pure sarcasm,i've been working on these since 03 waiting for the day to come when i could make some money on these only to have the rug pulled out!(i'm the dealer mastertech and i get all the problematic units nobody else wants)so as a tech i would say you don't need esp,but as an owner i say parts aren't cheap for these(yes it does cover complete eng).

Is there a particular year 6.0 that's been more reliable than others? I was looking at buying a second one to mod up. Just gotta make sure the wifey doesn't see this.

I checked out the warranty yesterday and it's good for 7 years. That certainly makes it worth it.

Sorry to belabour this topic but I am a newbie with a few questions since I just bought a 2004 F350 with the 6.0L and currently at 137,000kms...

What is the problem with the 6.0L's?
Should I be worried about mine?
Would I be covered by warranty work even though I am not the orignal owner?
Should I go to Ford with my questions?

Thanks everyone for helping me out.

Dave

Dave:the early build 6.0l had injector issues, and thebuilds up to late 06 had high press pump connection issues,as earlier stated the extended warranty will cover eng repairs and will pay for itself with one or two visits,if you bought the truck off a dealership(ford)they can get you all the warranty info,if not pm me i'll see what i can do.:)

When I was researching what used truck I wanted to buy, I ran across some info stating that the 2006 6.0ltr had the least warranty repairs than the '04 and '05. The article said that Ford had reworked and fixed a lot of earlier problems for the newer 2006 engines. The only actual change though I could find for 2006 stated " The 6.0L Power StrokeŽ diesel engine meets the CFFP requirements for Federal LEV certified vehicles. The Clean Fuel Fleet LEV Option (855) is no longer required or available."

How much is this new warranty anyways? Problems are pretty expensive to fix when you have a diesel so personally, I am all about the warranty!!

It's about 3K when all is said and done for the Total care with $100 surcharge if out of 3/60/ , low or no deductible plus tax and an admin fee so they will finance it for 17 months. Well worth it if you plan on having the truck after the 160K runs out and 3K doesn't go very far on these engines.
