Hey I am looking at this truck it is a 2005 ford f-250 fx4 that is lifted 6 inches and has 35" tires. It has the 6.0 and has 74,795kms on it and I am just wondering what I should be looking at when I am there. Is there anything in particular that I should look for on the engine?

Here is a link to the truck

Any suggestions would be great
Thanks Matt

nice looking truck

things i would watch out for, those chrome fender pieces like to make rust (in behind them) but your from BC so it may not be an issue... the trailer hitch looked spray painted... could be just to make it look better could be from heavy use.... drivers seat looks a bit squashed/worn like someone was in and out alot

i take it theres still factory warrenty ? that helps....

good looking truck

Hey thanks alot I am gonna take a look at it some time this week and try and look out for some of those things. As for the warrenty it has a 160km one and apparently a lifetime powertrain on it so that should be good I think. Also does that price seem about right?
Thanks Matt

Get an oasis report done, check to see what kind of warrenty work if any was done on it, repairs etc.

????? lifetime powertrain warranty, you may want to get the dealer to run it through OASIS to verify warranty status, the most powertrain coverage i"ve seen is 300,000km.

Great looking Truck, love the colour :) On the '05 6.0L, the main issue was branch tubes falling off the HPOP. Alot of the other issues of the earlier 6.0L had been improved or illiminated by 05. You shoud get an OASIS report on the truck, and see if the HPOP tube has been fixed already, if not, it may still becoming at you and it will leave you high & dry when it happens.Warranty will cover it, it's just a pain when it happens. See if the truck has been sitting for long (like months), if so, the truck could have turbo issues from rust. The truck should have come with a 3year/36K full warranty. I believe the powertrain warranty on the 2005 is only 3/36K as well unless an extended warranty was purchased. The engine is 5/160K. There is currently a 5/300K engine warranty available (called "Diesel Care") to purchase directly from Ford ( a 13 basic or a total care). I would strongly recommend it if you plan on keeping the truck past 160K. Good Luck!!

Thanks for all the suggestions hopefully will be looking at it soon that extended engine warranty sounds like a pretty good idea.

That truck seems really cheap compared to the trucks on that link considering the kms that it has. Kinda makes me wonder if there is something really wrong with it as I found some other trucks that are pretty much the same truck but are $5000 more.

$5000 difference is not much IMO when your spending $30k and there are actually like four trucks there even a lifted black one. I would spend the extra money and get the 1 tonne with the newer engine and body style. Some of there trucks are up from the states so they may be cheaper bt 1 tonnes around here are a dime a dozen.

Yah I think i am gonna just hold off this truck is kinda weird and there is some stuff that I am unsure of..... I really wanna get a new 350 but in kelowna the new ones are still alot of money and most are way more then $30k. I guess ill just wait till the summer and try and go to the states and try and get a new one.

Hey Matt (and others out there looking to buy or to compare prices) try repo.com. On their site you can check out a variety of trucks, their condition and the asking price. Sometimes there are some pretty sweet deals. You probably won't want to come to the Lower Mainland to buy a truck but at least you will have something to compare prices with. For example, here's a King Ranch F350: http://bc.repo.com/details/33241.

Good luck,

Dave

The guy only lives in Kelowna. A 3hour trip down to save thousands...... I would do it.

just be very careful of what you buy from the states, have seen all kinds of butchered together trucks coming through the auctions these days, get them pre-inspected before dealing, and they will need a out of country certification as well as out of province inspection.

Lots of Ford trucks in Kelowna for sale. Was just there last week but be careful because many at the lots, usually those sketchy used lots have trucks from the USA or the oil patches. Some good deals to be had though these days. I bought my 2006 F350 here in Victoria at a Ford dealer last summer where they were asking 41K for it which was way over my price range. I ended up getting it for $32000. My point is, truck prices are coming down and dealers want to sell so stick with your price and if you find something over your price, try anyways, you never know. I thought I was going to get an '04 because of my price but ended up with an '06. Yes, lots of good deals in the USA. Some dealers there will set up everything and taking care of the paperwork for your border crossing and what not. I think you have to have the papers at the border 48 or maybe 72 hours in advance once you buy your truck there.

Also that Repo site is a good one too. Very professional and courteous outfit they run there. I checked it out and lots of good deals but they come as is, for trucks, very dirty for most I found. Springing for a good cleaning may save you thousands. If you find something on their site, they have no problem holding a vehicle for you if you drive down first thing in the morning or something.
