2003 black L here. Bought it new spring of 2004. 60,000kms on her so far. Lowered the rear with JLP shackles to level it out. Replaced the cat-back with a JDM Silver Bullet and removed to two rear cats for a little more volume. FTVB for firmer shifts and only a K&N panel filter so far on the motor side of things. Billet grille and clear corners. Custom sound system designed and installed with the help of my wife (5 - 10"s baby!). That's about it. Looking at getting a tuner, CAI & 4# pulley this summer.

Thanks for the compliments, sounds great but I'm not a fan of my front stage. The Q-form kick panels are kinda flimsy and the Phoenix Gold components I've got in them are so-so.... they do have quite a bit of low-end to try to keep up with so I think I may be asking too much of them. Maybe some day I'll upgrade the kick panels to some custom made f-glass ones with some MB Quarts or Focals or something. I've also got Kicker 8" mid-bass and a set of tweeters in the doors to help out.

This is the only pic of my HU that I have, it's an Alpine I bought probably 5 or 6 years ago. Does the trick. In fact I don't even really use the CD player itself anymore, it has an Aux. input that I have my Sirius hard wired to and another input for my mp3 player or laptop.

bought a 2003 after selling my 04 lightning. I became the remorsefull seller. I had the 04 maxed out on the stock block .
The 03 is dark grey with a hard top. Built motor- Manley rods , magnum powers with a 6# lower. C&L upper with a JPL intake. Electric fans, with manual override for the fans and the intercooler pump.
Heads have been complete with valves done with crowler stage 2 cams. Seimens deka 60# injectors. Kooks long tube headers, low flow cats with Magna flow exhaust. Built tranny with the deep oil pan. Been lowered 4 inchs ( gona raise it back up 2 inchs) in the rear and 2 in the front. Idler relocate, larger intercooler tank resulting with the rear mount battery.
Still finding things. I was aware of the truck when it was built by the first owner, missed it by 15 minutes when he sold it. Next owner changed a few things, spotted the truck at the dealer a year later when he traded it in for a HD deisel 4x4.
Truck is in getting new coil packs, fuel pumps and a dyno tune. Hope to have it back on Monday.

waiting to get her to the track in the next few weeks. Once it is raised gonna put the traction bars on (currently very little clearage).
hoping to see some 11's.
on the street hitting it hard under 20 mph just gets wheel spin. Still fun:icon_biggrin:

make sure to get a dyno tune pushing 15lbs of boost
while you installing all those new items you might as well take the superchager off and clean the IC and fill the silencer holes. It makes the supercharger nice and loud.

any thoughts on numbers I'll make? Stock 01 lightning,
my experience is that with that set up you will see 14 # of boost in the mid 60-70 degrees temp. range.
I have almost the same mods but a built block, cams and head work. I was dyno'd at 487 rear wheel and 557 torque
with 14.7 pounds of boost.
If your block is stock it may not last to long. Avoid the 2 gear kick down. These motors are known for lossing a rod when the throttle is stomped when the truck is in 4th and it kicks down to 2nd. On a diff. lightning the C&L upper intake, single blade throttle body and a cold air intake gave me an extra lb of boost the larger crank pully (91/4 ") will give around 6 more pounds of boost. You may need larger injectors (60#) as you are at risk of running lean. I would reconsider your what you are doing with the 6# pully. consider a 4#lb, with the other mods that should put you around 430-450 rear and about 510 torque. Depending on the tuner and how agressive he is with timing.
I bought this lightning from a guy who did the 6# pully with a ported eaton the c&l inlet and upper plenum etc.. He blew the bottem end so it was rebuilt with manly rods , head work etc. Went lean on him. burt a piston and cost an other rebuild. Went lean at the upper end of third at the track.
The 01 lightnings also have a sparkplug and head issue. There are I believe only 4 threads for the sparkplug and with increased boost the plugs can work loose and inject themselves. Some are repaired with coil inserts others change the heads.
Generally the lightning 5.4 block handles up to 425-450 hp just fine. I had a 04 with 428 rw for a couple of years and spent every avaible friday night at the track hundreds of passes no problem. Some were not so lucky.
good luck in your project.
