Hey,
Just wondering what kind of mileage everybody is getting with the new 6-speed tranny.
And if anybody has had any problems with their new truck. I'll be looking to buy an FX4 at the end of summer.
Thanks

Im constantly amazed how many people are concered about fuel mileage you will be getting....its a truck not a Smart car. You probably shouldn't buy one if your concerned about the gas mileage your going to get. Fuel mileage is all how you drive, I can burn through a tank real quick or you can get great mileage. Remember its a 5000 lb truck

Maker, if you're going to buy do it before the end of Aug, with the employee pricing you save $10-15k off MSRP. If you're looking for a specific model it takes time for the dealer to search inventory, test drive, etc. employee pricing ends Aug 31. Granted after that they will probably come out with low financing (vs the 8% now) so if you're financing the monthly payments will be the same.

I'm averaging 15.4 L/100 (18.3 MPG), I do lots of highway and country driving. I track every fill up, with gas prices since June when I got the truck I'm spending $.16/km on fuel. (XLT 3.55 4x4 - 22,000 km)

I'm pretty happy with my MPG.
If I drive carefully, on my commute drive which includes highway and country roads, I can get 12L/100k. About 1100 or so km right to empty.
About the only thing I don't like about the truck is that on Metric there are no units after the decimal place. If you convert to imperial you can see 18.7 MPG (US liquid gallon) etc. In metric it is just 12.
On a pure HWY drive I have gotten to 19.8 MPG - again careful and boring driving.
With my average driving style - which is neither aggressive not too careful - I easily do 1050 km per tank at 13L/100km or about 17.4 MPG.
FYI 5.4L, FX4, 3.73 and all MPG numbers are based on a US liquid gallon. MPG looks a lot better when it is in imperial gallons!
For a truck, I'm quite happy with that! The only thing that might make me happier is a diesel in a 1/2 ton Ford! At ~10 cents per liter cheaper and 20% more MPG, a diesel would be a welcome thing. I've only had it for 2.5 months and I already have 12500 km on the darned thing!

i'm impressed with mileage we are getting on our 09, 4.6 4wd s/crew, we just got it so we spent all saturday putting miles on it so it will be able to tow in a couple weeks. Around town driiving couple days computer was reading 14l/100k, during our drive on the highway and country it got down to 9l/100k and then settled at 10l/100k. Speeds were 100k - 120k on the highway and 80-100 in the country, back thru city of London and some at home it still sits at 10l/100k average. I think its better than our last 05, 4.6 2wd s/crew. it feels like it has more power and throttle than the last truck :icon_surprised:
12k on a 4.6/3V - avg over all 12l/100km since new , since about 10k avg is now 10.5-11l/100km
no special driving habits at all for better mileage - running semisynth oil motorcraft

most of you guys are getting great mileage. I'm getting an avg of 13/14 L/100km in the city which i'm pretty happy with, I think thats about 17ish mpg. This 09 gets way better fuel mileage than my 04 did.
12.5L/100Km is 18.8MPG US and 22.6MPG for Canada (imperial) which is 8 km a litre
10L/100Km is 23.5MPG US and 28.25MPG for Canada (imperial) which is 10km a litre

I have 18000 kms on my 09' FX4 Supercrew with the 5.4L and have seen 11- 12 litres per 100km . That's an honest 24 - 25 mpg in Canadian gallons .... EH . To convert to Canadian mpg, just divide 282 into your litres per 100, hence 10 L/100KM would be 28 mpg ....

Thought I'd show my mileage from the first month with the 2010 F-150 SCREW. 5.4 L with 3.73. Max Tow with 6.5 ft box and a Ford folding tonneau (Backflip). Most of my driving is 105-115 km/hr. Mileage at 90 km/hr. is much better. If I'm in the woods (snow, mud 4x4) the mileage takes a pretty good dip 18 L/100. I certainly enjoy the ride.:icon_biggrin:
The display shows 12-13L/100 km, but this is what I really get.

I've had my FX4 (Screw) since July and only have 5000k on it now. Almost all of my driving is very short city trips (about 5-7 minutes) so I know the engine does not have enough time to reach normal operating temps. During the summer and fall months I was averaging 16-17L/100km, but now that winter is here and the temp has dropped I am averaging 20-21L/100km. So if you've been doing a lot of city driving your numbers don't sound too out of place. I'm waiting for the warmer weather to come so I can see if things return back to the way they were last summer, and hopefully are better know that the engine is broken in.

With my 09 Screw and a light foot , I have gotten as high as 24mpg cdn but usually it is between 19 and 21 on the hi-way, pulling a trailer in the wind it has dropped as low as 10 mpg cdn, around town with short trips and heavy traffic, about 13 to 15 mpg cdn, it has 25 k on it now, I am quite happy with the fuel consumption, I have had cars in the "old days" that only got 16 on the hi-way....lol

My new 2010 FX4 gets "ok" mileage not as bad as yours but nowhere as good as their advertising makes out, and I drive it like I am trying to conserve fuel ( easy starts from a stop, cruising on the highway at 100 or less, etc... )
the guage in the dash says average 15l/100 km but I don't beleive it at all. I have done some calculating so far and I am over 16L/100km and the truck only has about 1650 kms on it.
I don't beleive for a minute that the magical 5000 km mark will change anything. I think that is Dealer B.S !

FYI, the following provides an overview of my mileage since October. You can see that the cold months require a lot more gas.
My 2010 F-150 has the max tow package with a 5.4L and 3:73 ratio. I have 30,000Km on this truck since mid October. Mileage is calculated in L/100 km for every tank.
http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p245/oscarsbuddymike/Lper100F150.gif
I also write down the us mileage that the odometer displays and correlate it to the actual mileage that is calculated. The correlation is good, but there is no doubt that the computer is reading a little high.

Just did a round trip from the Maritime s to Peterborough via USA going and Canada returning with a load. On the the flat boring 401 I got 11l/100 or 25.6 mpg ( Imp) Loaded and hauling a very heavy full U-Haul 6 X 12 trailer and got 17L/100 or 16.6 mpg.
For those with inquiring minds

On a long trip have gotten as good as 12L/100km and as poor as 17L/100km on a very windy day. I usually get 15-16 L/100km when driving mainly in town.
I have an '09 4x4 XLT w/ the 6-speed with the 5.4L and 3.73 limited slip

I'm getting 22L/100km in my FX4 Screw? It only has about 2000Kms on it so maybe that will reduce. However, most of the KM's are pulling a 6000 lb camper...
