Air Con

My son has a 98 f150. When he moves the hot cold dial to cold to activate the Air Con he gets very very hot air in the cab. This is not just outside air circulating through the cab, it feels like heater air. No odors just hot air. The refrigerate is fine. anyone had a similar problem.

i had that in my 99, for me its just a loose knob.. i have to give it the little wiggle for it to grab properly. i tried my a/c one day when it was +32 outside and realized my truck was blowing hot air. turns out the dial was stuck on heat still from winter (shows i don't really use a/c very much i like the fresh air from an open window more) so i played around with the knob and i could feel as soon as it grabbed. so now i just gotta go back and forth till the knob grabs to get the right temp.

It doesn't sound like anything is happening, thought that it might be the dial switch or the blend door.

Our 99 f150 out here at work used to do that also, blow hot when AC was turned on....seemed to work better when i pounded on the black plastic piece on the floor in front of where the gear shift would be if you had a stick. Maybe just a coincidence when i hit it. never did figure it out...i sent it back to the fleet....:icon_biggrin:

could be the blend door motor,it's under the cover on trans tunnel.

Pull the knob off that controls the hot/cold air those were known for cracking {check where it mounts on} if its not that it could be the blendoor motor or a stuck blendoor

Replaced the hot/cold dial switch to-day, not the problem.
Going to try and remove the blendoor motor on tuesday, see if I can find a way to test it?

If that is not the problem we will try and replace the blendoor next. What a pain in the A..
