Hey has anybody noticed a driveline vibration only in 1st and 2nd gear(09 f150 5.4l 6spd auto supercrew with max tow) up to 35km/h while towing a 5000lb trailer? I imagine if i towed something heavier it would be worse but there is absolutley no sign of it with the trailer off the truck. Just hoping somebody else has come across this so i can steer my dealership in the right direction!:

Yes, it has 2 piece with a hanger bearing and then there is a rubber boot behind the hanger, looks may-be a slip joint built in? How many inches of shims did you typically ad? Thanks

you would have to measure the driveline angles to determine what shimming is required, hint have your trailer hooked up when checking.

how many degreeses should it be, the suspension only drops about an inch with the trailer on with the weight distribution bars on!

the max u-joint operating angle is 3deg with the front and rear angles on shaft equal or within 1deg.

I was told by Scott @ Deaver Springs that 1-2 degrees negative is optimal, that way when you torque on it it will be right where you want it to be

Ok then is the angle usually out at the hanger, or do i have to shim the rear axle?? and what are you comparing the overall angle to?

If it's an 09 just take it to the dealer and claim warranty.:icon_confused:

took it in for first oil change and check-up they claim everthing is ok, they want me to leave it with them with my trailer attached! I'm not to comfortable leaving them with it for a day or two with the trailer, ive seen some them drive without trailers! i'm afraid of what it would look like!
