Hey guys I just picked up a 09 F150 with the 3 valve 4.6L V8 XLT supercrew 4x4 with the XTR and tow package in blue flame.
So Im goin to be looking into exhaust and just wondering what the best way to go with it as for getting the best sound and performance.
Also I was reading alot about the programmers that I can get but I doubt if something were to happen that the I would be covered by Fords warranty?
What other things can I look into for better milage and performance?
Also what is the average millage on the 09 4.6, im getting around 17 mpg.

:W) Joe....can't wait to see her. Did you get the 3V 4.6? I hear mileage goes up on these trucks after a 1000 miles or so...just need to give it some break in time.

Joe..I love my Gryphon programmer....It just wakes the truck up:icon_biggrin: Once the new truck syndrome wears off, you may want a programmer as well. I know powerhungryperformance is working on one for the 09's, but not sure about the 4.6 tho...also I'm sure SCT probably has an Xcal III for it as well. If you ever get a chance to drive a truck stock and then tuned, you'll be impressed.

Welcome. I love that flame blue color on the new trucks, I'd pick that color if I got a new one.

Welcome! Be carefull with the programmers. They do make a nice difference, but they also void warranty. As for exhausts I like MBRP.

welcome to the fordtough family, the best improvment to make(that won't void powertrain warranty)is cat back exhaust, there are a lot on the market it all depends on how you want it to sound.:)

The programmer is worth it IMO. Sure it may void the warranty if something does happen, but dont forget,if something does, well just plug the programmer back in and upload the stock tune and you're good.

My old man just grabbed the exact same truck and package but in black. It's a nice ride, I took it for a road trip and the mileage was surprisingly good while towing another vehicle.
Welcome.

Welcome.

even if you return to stock setting and remove tuner,we have ways of finding tell tale signs a tuner was recently installed.
