So my job requires lots of stop and go (oil field) and the belt minder is getting really annoying!!! My truck is only 5 days old and i can't seem to deactivate it at all following the instructions given in the owner's manual. The steps are:
1-put park brake on
2-turn key on and do not start, wait for seat belt light to go off
3-once off you have 50 sec to buckle/unbuckle 9 times ending unbuckled.
well this is where it doesn't work. No matter what i try the seat belt light starts flashing after 3 to 4 buckle/unbuckle so roughly about 3 to 5 sec into the routine and that's it i have to start over again.
Does anyone know what i could possibly be doing wrong or is there a typo in the manual???? I'm confused and really want to get this thing deactivated!!!
This is in an 09, F150, Lariat btw!!
Thanks in advance!!

The Superduty's have a similar process, I always turn mine off on my trucks as well as disconnect the wire for the "key in the ignition" dinger". The seat belt procedure usually does take me a couple of times to get it right. I have no idea if there, is an error in the manual, maybe someone else can answer that one. Your other option is take it to the dealer and he can plug in the handheld and do it for you. If you just picked the truck up a few days ago, I would hope that your dealer would do it no charge. If you go to another dealer, they may charge you. Good luck!

do what we do on the flight line in the service trucks,
take seatbelt
buckle it
sit on the seatbelt...
tada..easy..and no cutting, snipping, doing the buckle unbuckle 9 times in 50 seconds dance...

Our 2005 super duty at work, all i did was disconnect the harness under the driver's side seat, i think it was a 1 wire connector....no more ding...ding...ding. The connector was at the back of the seat, almost on the floor...not sure how the 09 f150's are rigged.

thanks guys....i have the truck booked for next tuesday for straightening the mud flaps that they installed crooked and a problem with the fan actuator (always blows at the feet as well as everywhere else) so i will ask them to try to deactivate it then!!! Hopefully they can do it. I never had a problem with my other trucks before so i don't know what's going on with this one. Maybe i'll try the steps used for a previous year and see if that works!!!
thanks again guys!!

well i got it to work after a few trial and error. The book must be wrong because it's the same!!! I started like the book where you turn key on and wait till light goes off the start counting. I went till about 7 and the seat belt light went on. Waited for it to go off about 3 sec or so then buckle/unbuckle one more time and voila!!! The other difference was that i left the park brake OFF not ON as the book says!!!
Thanks for the tips guys!!

Same goes for deactivating it on a Ranger too. After applying the parking brake and turning the ignition to on, I waited for the light to to go out and had 50 seconds to engage and disengage the belt 9 times. The light then comes on for 4 seconds (I think) then I had to engage and disengage one more time, causing the light to blink, letting me know is was deactivated.
