So, recently the engine light came on and I scanned the code and it came up with a error stating "engine can not complete diagnostic check" Turns out it was a vacum line that came off near the throttle body.

Since this the Cruise will not work. I replaced the worn vacum hose with the same diameter hose and re-connected the hose to the unit.

Some thoughts that I have had:

- do i need a new part ( the little black box that is near the throttle body??? two vac lines attached and an electrical connector???)

- fuses have been checked and appear to be ok.
-engine light has stayed off since re-connecting the new vac line.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

tried the battery disconnect, to no avail. and now I think my truck has an electrical gremlin, the compass, temp gauge will turn on for a moment and then goes off, but it was working fine yesterday!!

so to date:

cruise light will flash on the dash when the main control button is pushed but not remain on. I have looked at the fuses but they look ok.

the temp/compass overhead console has gone out but will flash, I have not looked at the fuse for this.

If anyone can let me know which fuses that control both these it would be a great help.

thanks

i searched the VIN number from my truck and it lists no recall on the truck? Can you provide the service recall? please :)

thanks

Any Ford dealer should be able to help you with that recall it was a major issue causing under hood fires

apparently the issue was cleared off the ford page, or has been completed on the truck.

I think I may have found the problem with the cruise, the smallish black plastic box that connects two vacum lines near the throttle body, under the black plastic cover has a small crack in it...

Does anyone know what this part is called, and an approx price on such a unit? I can't read the part number off it as it is so tiny..

Any suggestions and help appreciated!

Thanks

do you have a pic of the part?it sounds like the dpfe sensor(has 2 hoses & a 5pin connector and shouldn't affect the cruise)

I can get a picture, but do not have the truck at home right now, It is up at the cottage.

I was reading through some other forums about cruise issues, and they were saying about the electrical that is behind the steering wheel???
It isn't that I use the cruise that much but it seems weird that all of a sudden it would stop working? Would it be something to do with the ABS light coming on?

Thanks for the info! :)
