This for my new 09 F150.....does anyone have constant air flow to the feet no matter where you put the dial too????? Mine keeps shooting air to the feet even on a/c. So i brought the truck to the dealer to have it looked at and guess what...apparently it's normal!!! The tech went on the lot and tried a bunch of them to make sure they were all doing that and sure enough it is!!! Way to go engineers!!! In the summer with the a/c on my right foot keeps freezing and in the winter the heat keeps blowing down and i get sweaty feet which is not good when your in and out of the truck all the time!!! I guess i'll have to go buy some black dust tape now!!! What a rip off!!! I'm pretty disappointed!!!

lol....i think engineers should not touch what's not broken. Leave it be if it's working fine. I've had many different cars and trucks in my driving career so far and this is the first one i see that is "supposedly normal" according to my dealer!!! I just can't understand why you pay so much for something and it doesn't work properly. I know it's not a big problem but to me it's annoying!!! Now would it be the dealerships responsibility to get in contact with Ford to see if there's anything being done about it or just take the techs comments that he looked at others and they did the same so it must be normal?!?!?

Ahhh, the joys of living in Speedy Creek... I honestly can't see why Ford would build a system which pumps cold air or heat to a zone not selected, but if all units on the lot did the same, either there's going to be a recall or you'll have to wear a sock...:icon_biggrin:
i believe the side window vents are suppose to blow air no mater what -- but not the floor of course.
my old 06 had two heat settings when i got rid of it -- super hot and so hot it would burn you - and it was a crap shoot where it would blow from

I dont work for ford, but alot of the vehicles I work on you can calibrate the door travel, so it learns its proper position, I dont know if Ford has this, but if so, it may need calibration or a flash if one is avalible.

Just wondering if you had the chance to ask your dad about his 09 floor vent. I'm gonna wait a little bit to see if anyone else will chime in about this issue and i will be dropping by the dealer on monday to see if they can do a little more investigating and if that doesn't work i will be calling around for sure!!! It can't be "normal"!!!

Yeah Speedy Creek has this kinda of inconvenience!!! One dealer for each brand...or almost anyways!!!! I see you are from Orleans...that's where all my family is from. I've only been here for 6yrs now and i kinda miss the big cities for this kind of thing. I could easily be going to another dealer for sure over there!!!

yea i ran his sat when he was here and no abnormal floor venting... switched it around a few times and no extra air at the feet area unless selected.... did the other trucks on the lot do the same thing ? i would take it back and go out with the tech and see if they do sounds like there hopeing you just drop it

well i just went outside again to try it to make sure i wasn't dreaming and i tried different combinations every which way possible and there's definitely something wrong there. It's actually worst on the passenger side. As far as other trucks on the lot doing it....well i was told the tech did check a few out there and said they were all doing it. Maybe the tech just doesn't want to take the dash apart and that was his excuse. I will be going to the dealer first thing in the morning and see for myself is they do the same or not!!! So far from what i've read on this board and another board this is not right!!! I will get to the bottom of this and will keep posting the results!!

well i went to the dealer this morning and got the keys to 2 different trucks on the lot and sure enough they both have the same symptoms as mine so for them to say that there's something wrong is hard just because of that. So the service manager said he was going to do some research and phone calls to see if this issue was ever brought up to Ford's attention or what because i said i wasn't going to accept a "normal" answer. I guess we'll see what pans out of this!!!
Thanks for the help guys!!!

Do those of you with the floor vent problem have automatic climate control heat/AC systems? I have read on other forums that when you set your system to Auto that the floor vents are always on, but when not in Auto they are off. I know in my 09 FX4 (no luxury package, so just the standard manual heat/AC controls) the floor vents are only on when I select them.

I do have climate control but is there a special "trick" to set it to "off" besides the button the says "auto"???? I have tried just about any combination possible and no matter what i do it still blows down to the feet!!

issue still not resolved but someone posted a reply on a thread i started with the same issue on another site and this was his reply!!!
"Ok, let me chime in on this.
I've been testing vehicles for Ford for 15yrs, and I've done the very testing that this symptom falls into on more occasions than I care to remember. I've probably logged more wind tunnel hours than most of Ford's climate engineers at this point.
Why do I care about this you say??? I now own a 2009 XLT Screw.
I just took it north for the weekend, a hot weekend here in Michigan. Friday's drive up was in the 80's and Sunday's drive home was in the 90's outside.
The drive was 3 yrs long each way and by the one hour point I was trying to find a traffic pattern to follow so that I could keep the truck in cruise control so I could pull my foot off the pedal to warm up. I was wearing NB cross trainers with a mesh front over the top of your foot. My foot literally hurt from the cold air. I've been in vehicle evaluations before and had "hot foot" during heater tests, but never cold foot to this extent.
The problem stems from too much "floor bleed" in max a/c mode, I didn't feel it as much in fresh a/c mode, but then again I was already cold. Max a/c mode is panel mode, recirc air (typically higher air flow). The amount of air that comes out of any given opening is calibrated into the vehicle during the design of the air handling system. EATC (electronic automatic temp control) works the same but is a lot "smarter" and makes adjustment based on various imputs from the driver, and numerous sensors (ambient, sunload). Since it's "smarter" it can do a lot more with the air available to it. Manual controls aren't as capable and any issues with them and typically a bit harder to solve.
I've started a complaint process with my dealer, and for the time being I'm forced to use black duct tape as a fix. Unfortunately, if this can't be fixed with a calibration change, we might be doomed to keeping our duct tape on and cutting our own air outlets in them until we get it where we like it."
