No one seems to be able to find an adapter for the trailer harness for the 99 Explorer Sport...does it exist?
I found a splice from the tail light wire set that ends in a rectangular plug stowed in the drivers side rear compartment. I took it to be the trailer lighting harness.
My trailer lighting requires the 4 plug connection...is there such an adapter?
Any help and direction would be appreciated.
ps. Sorry for the spelling issues on the title...fat fingers.

Not familiar with the explorers but if you just want the 4 prong you can get one at any auto parts store and splice them into the factory harness, that rectangular plug is probably it, but make sure with a test light or voltage meter. Or check with your local dealer for a Plug n play harness, maybe even one with the 4 pin & 7 pin altogether.

Thanks for the reply...I wasn't very clear, sorry. I have the 4 prong now, came with the trailer lighting package.
Its the adapter to the Ford harness I can't find...lol...even from the local dealership parts department. They had no idea.
I felt it would be appropriate to use the proper adapter so as not to risk damage truck lighting if there is an issue with the trailer lighting.
Thanks for the reply, seems I have little choice.

I know on my 99 F150 the harness connector you add to is in the driver side frame rail at the back near the spare and the another loops out towards the tail light.

UUMMM...I am an IDIOT!!
LOL...I found the proper light harness, hiding under the tail light.
What I was looking at was an electrical feed for an air ride feature my truck does not have, but it has the wiring...lol.
Yes SKRWZ, that is the proper adapter, picked one up, done in 10 minutes.
Thanks for all your help, I will sheepishly crawl back under my trailer now and finish my wiring.
