Fx4 ??

ok so I was wondering what makes a f150 a Fx4? What do you get with this package and did they have it for pre 04 trucks? thx.

I think fx4 was new way to say 4x4
it probably came with skIdplates, shocks

In 06 the FX4 package was an upgrade to the 5.4, skid plates, "off road" shocks ,a plastic gas tank,painted bumpers, wheel lip mouldings,and different floor mats
I'm not sure about earlier years but would think it was the same thing.

FX4 started in 2002.
Standard Engine is a 5.4 V8 since 04, You could get either a 4.6 or 5.4 from 02'-04'. FX4 seems much more popular in the 04+ trucks. I know they have:
-Skid Plates
-Offroad Shocks
-Plastic Gas Tank
-Paint-to-match Bumpers (Optional Two-Tone Paint as well)
-Rubber Floor Mats
-Console Shift (I've seen a few column shifts but they seem rare)
-FX4 Luxury Pack Optional (Leather Seats and all that fancy stuff)

Thats all I can think of at the moment. I'm sure there are more things.

ahh ok cool. I thought it may have been a different suspenion or whatever.Like the up country jeep zj's had a 1"factory lift.thx all.

the fx4 has an extra leaf in the back and a differnt spring rate in the front strut, tow package trans cooler, 3.37s with a track lock in rear diff, and 18" rims

My 08 came with 20" rims.Wish it hadnt.I didnt even think about the wheel size when i bought it.

dealer told me that the fx4 package or part of are the beefier rancharo or how ever you spell it shocks. ( cant believe i forgot how to spell that lol)
