Ok. I've got a set of headers with y-pipe on there way and for now will be reinstalling the stock dual cats and muffler with turndown before axle. Just looking for ideas on best muffler to put on for a good sound out of this poor 2.9l. I had a ranger mud truck that I straight piped and it sounded like a v8 so I am hoping to get the same sound out of the BII. (Could be dreaming though). I will also be getting rid of the stock cats and adding one single high flow type cat. And where is the best place to get your suggested parts.

Thanks James

sound like a v8? or a stock car?

I find the straight pipe'd trucks are just barky, and stock car sounding.
no deep rumble to it.

muffler wise.. i'd start my way with a short muffler. it will tone down the barkyness but still pass thru.

universal. couple different brands to choose from. flowmaster, cherry bomb etc..
jegs, summit, autoanything, or your local muffler shop.
