2010 Escape opinions?

I'm looking at buying the wife a 2010 Escape and wondering what I should be looking at pro and con. I know they are short wheelbase and earlier ones were noisey in the back end. She won't drive my FX4 because she says it is too big! I just want to get her out of the Taurus and into 4x4 due to our winters up here. Opinions please.

Such is life. Just passing through.

I had an 09 for 3 years... It was great, no issues at all. It had the infamous hoot noise in the rear end but never became an issue. Good on gas and lots of power, and very strong in the snow even with the stock tires

I got my wife an '11 (new). Very happy with it. We ordered ours with a 4 cyl for better fuel economy (we have the powerstroke for the highway!), premium sound, remote start and a second set of rims/tires for winter. The Escape is downright awesome in the snow. We did have to have the front PTU (Power Take off Unit...which is basically the front differential) changed twice, and a couple other minor items. That cost Ford a few bucks! We did buy the 7 year warranty. So look under for any oil leaks.

The Project - '90 Ford Bronco 4x4
The wife's - '11 Ford Escape

Good choice to consider Glen, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

My wife had an AWD '06 Escape with the V6 and loved it, had no issues whatsoever in the four years she had it.

She had an '88 Cavalier , followed by an '01 Cavalier, prior to finally listening to me (lol) and taking the Escape for a test drive.

She always thought an SUV would be too bulky, but once she was in the Escape and actually drove it, she was impressed with how much she could see and how easy it was to drive, park and maneuver.

Shortly after that, it was in the driveway.

I threw some snow tires on it for the winter and couldn't believe how sure footed it was with the AWD, so I'd say definitely consider 4WD or AWD.
