Ford Motor Co. is slashing its stake in Japan's Mazda Motor Corp.

Full Story Here:

"Ford Motor Co. is slashing its stake in Japan's Mazda Motor Corp. by nearly two-thirds, joining other struggling U.S. automakers in a fire-sale of prized assets to stay afloat.

Ford, which owns 33.4 per cent of Mazda, will sell about a 20 per cent stake, the companies said in separate statements.

The sale would net Ford 52-billion yen ($540-million U.S.) based on Mazda's closing price Tuesday, barely a quarter of what a 20 per cent stake in the Japanese automaker was worth one year ago. Mazda's shares rose 6.4 per cent to 184 yen Tuesday amid media reports of a coming sale..............................."

seems to be a sign of the times, the big 3 are all doing it. even tho i'm not a gm or dodge fan, they still need each other for the competition to keep raising the bar. here's more bad GM news.

While i may not want to drive a dodge or gm, i still hope they will all make it through. They are one of the backbones of north america, and losing them means alot of lost jobs.

Well Guy's. I thought this all came about because of the rising cost of fuel? Well fuel is cheper now than when i first arrived!

Can somebody please explain why they are going down the pan? US Resession?

Mazda make excellent vehicle's and this is coming from a European where the vehicles are different. Ford sold/selling Jaguar and Landrover as well.

You know ... Throwing a 2.5 TDi Dura-tech 4 cylinder with standard 5sp tranny Into a Ranger would be awsome ...... Writing's on the wall for the BIG 3 who produce BIG cc, BIG hp and Crappy MPG.

getting better milage and better build quality would be nice but still keep away from the uninspired vehicles offered elsewhere.

a moments silence for the shelbyx,i hope her new owner enjoys as much.
