hitch tolerance?

i have an 08 ranger sport 4x4, i selected the "tow" package, which included the class3 hitch. i bought a drop bar/ball combo from TSC a couple weeks ago on sale. when i put it in the reciever on the hitch and put the pin in, there is play between the two.

is this normal and ok to use? i've looked at a few neighbours trucks with hitches and they are all snug.

Normal, my 08 FX4 has a bit of play as well with one of my recievers, the other is snug.

Its fine. If it rattles and that drives you nuts then wrap a layer or two of black electrical tape around it and it'll quieten up. LR
