Hit the ditch...

Ok so today went very bad. I was driving to work in a back road and this guy was snowblowing his driveway in this wee little tractor. I see him from about 60 feet away so I reduce my speed to 40km/h.

Well about 20 feet before i pass by him, he decides to do a U-turn and comes right in my way! So now I have 2 choices, hit him too fast and most likely kill him, or sweve into the ditch, with my brand new truck, which I've had for two months.. Obviously a life is more important than a vehicle so I drive into the ditch... He comes rushing to me asking if I'm ok and whatnot and I'm fine, surprisingly calm as well. We go in his house and he hands me the phone to call the cops, so I do.

After half an hour at least a cop and tow truck show up, we both give a report and the towing pulls me out.
There was a little tree when I crashed so I was expecting the worst...

Damage: Broken tree haha. My truck has no damage ANYWHERE, thank god I have a skid plate that covers the entire engine or my rad would have been done. And now I miss a day of work... Plus I had to pay 40$ for towing...

Awesome..

Quick thinking on your part - could have been tragic if you had acted otherwise.

Glad there's no damage - these trucks are OK with snow covered ditches - part of driving in Canadian winters

Happens to all of us sooner or later - hopefully much later.

On my way back home I was rubbing the steering wheel and talking to my truck saying how awesome she is lol. I told my boss the exact same thing, Ford wasn't lying about the Built Ford Tough thing lol

A little trip into the ditch, especially with the skid plate package on your truck, won't faze it a bit.

This is the pic I tried to post earlier.

Nothing as dramatic as what happened to you - I was stopped on a back road "window-to-window" to talk to a friend. Saw a car approaching, backed up and edged to the side of the road to let it pass, went a little too close to the edge and started sliding into the ditch. 4wd just dug me in deeper, though also a little further along in the ditch.

Called another friend (who had my tow straps), and he came and hooked me up (he drives a Jeep Cherokee and was happy about the "rescue call").

A couple of tugs later, I'm almost out, when a big dump truck (going to the quarrry just down the road) rolls up, nose-to-nose with my truck.

We re-tie the straps onto the front hooks of the dump truck, the driver puts it in reverse, and the truck just yanks out.

Just lots of snow packed in underneath to show for the adventure.

How about it folks?

Any more pics/stories of snowy adventures/misadventures?
