Expy with 4x4 problem!!!

I have an Expedition 2006 limited and the 4X4 doesn't work anymore!

In the book it says that if the 4X4high or 4X4low do not shows up when they are selected you need to contact your dealer!!!

I wandering if that problem happen to some else and if the answer could you let me know what was the problem, what did you do and how much it cost?

thank you

There is a solenoid in the transfer case which if goes unused for a period will get stuck and result in the 4WD not working properly. The problem is that it is not an easy repair as the solenoid is inside the transfer case.
That is my experience, but I am not a doctor.
