" and new global small cars like the Fiesta and Focus could very well effectively replace Ranger in the North American market "

Fiesta and Focus as replacements to the Ranger??? I think I'm going to be sick!

not sure if it was here or another site but, ford is getting rid of the ranger because its mostly used for commuters and with the f150 getting better fuel economy theres no need for it... so they say

i still think they need the one they make in mexico up here the crew cab with the diesel.....

2007 F350 6.0L Ext cab short box 4x4
2000 F150 5.4L Reg cab short box 2wd
?? always looking for a new ford project !

This story has been going around and around for a while now. I've chatted with someone whop works at dearborn an he was saying they are working on something for a small truck. wether it actually makes it out here is another story.

I would rather have a small truck some of these behemoth they have now couldn't go a lot of the places I take my ranger.

Heres an idea for ford take the F150 tech and apply it to the ranger. lets see a small truck with 35 MPG. I think it would sell.

I think someone is making up some numbers. Ford used to boast 30 mpg with the 4 cylinder in the Ranger .....

As it is, the most efficient 2010 Ranger is the base rear-wheel drive 2.3-liter four-cylinder model with a five-speed manual transmission, and it only achieves 22 miles-per-gallon city and 27 highway. When you look at that model with an automatic though, it nets 19/24. That's not all that much better than the much more capable F-150 with the three-valve 4.6-liter V8 and six-speed automatic, which gets 15/21."

So now it's suddenly not quite as good as they used to report. Gee, I wonder if someone rounded those numbers off the wrong way?!?!??!? And since when does an automatic soak up 3 mpg?!?!??!??!?? I call BS!

"Only" 27 mpg my a$$! That's a loss of 3 mpg. Oh, but guess what?!?!?! It's not that much better than an F-150 which gets 15/21!!!!!!!!!! Come on! And now suddenly Mr. Mathemetician thinks that 4/3 split ain't such a big deal afterall. LOOK AT THE 15/21 VERSUS 22/27 MORANS! (< American thing lol)

I have a feeling Ford is about to piss off a bunch of it's customers.

Sorry guys, but crap like this really get's my goat. It's fear mongering for no reason at all.
