but dear I just bought it for the wheels :)

well I went to look at an old Ford Van with some Western turbines on it on Sat. and bought the whole thing. picking up next Sat morning. it actually runs and drives but not safe for the road.

kind of weird Van , its a 1979 E250 might be a clubwagon, but it only came with a 302, not an 351W 351M or even a 460?

the 302 runs fine, under body is very clean, a lot better than Barney......... Was thinking about what to do with it, not in bad shape but looks terrible! only seats left are the front buckets, somebody had a thing for blue shag, but its a window can. weird it has a cat on it, and an air pump too, maybe came from Cali many moons ago.

Its not my fault I had to have another set of 16.5 turbines(lost 2 nice sets in the fire) and the van came with them. now where can I keep it?

cheers James

16.5's? So, you have a stash of 16.5" tires? I just picked up a set of 16" dually rims for my brother's older motorhome because he can't find rubber for the 16.5's currently on it.

Gotta be careful with those half sizes, I seem to recall seeing something on one of those photo-journalism shows (I wanna say Marketplace or something like that), where they were inflating a 16.5 tire on a 16 wheel, and it blew out the bead, injuring the guy doing the installation.

Don't see those half sizes much , be careful.

yes idiots should not play with tire machines.................................:icon_lol :

idiots should not play with any tools

16.5s are a tapered bead, just like 17.5s, 19.5s, 22.5s, and 24.5s..

16.5s have almost disappeared but still seem to be available in 33" and 35" sizes, just not very common.

on another note, an offer I had made a while ago that I was not expecting to be accepted was! my "scrap fund" can handle the hit but my parking space can't. might have to part it out fast, that was what I made the offer for anyway. it has several pieces on it I need to complete some ongoing projects. and maybe sell a few bits off it I don't need

cheers James

years ago when I had my "summer job" at standard auto wreckers , there was a splatter mark on the ceiling above the tire machine

blood from a guy's face that had worked there shortly before I started
yep - tryed to put a 16 on a 16.5 split rim

big splatter too - prob 4 feet across

.

My question is what kind of a rocket scientist would attempt this?
