new Farm truck for dad

put a deposit on a really clean low km F250 today , picking up on monday.

saw it on kijiji and told my dad about it, took him to look at it and made an offer on his behalf. its a 1988 F250 supercab with only 105,000km on it. oil sprayed to death, wicked primer adhesion issues on hood and fenders but original body and paint.

I'll take some pics when I pick it up on monday. it was better than I was expecting , usually the opposite!

If he wasn't interested I may have made a slightly smaller offer just to get my hands on it. i'm a sucker for clean red interiors!
minty running 5.8 EFI with a C6 trans. it will be getting farm plates. should last my dad 20 yrs and I don't think he will have his licence that long.

cheers James

105,000 is pretty low mileage for an '88, always nice when its better than expected. Congrats on the new addition James, looking forward to the pics.

picked it up and delivered it to my dad's favorite garage in Drayton. went to snap some pics as we were leaving to deliver it and camera batteries were toast, looks like next weekend for pics. had to pull a passenger side vent window out of a parts truck here to leave with his mechanic.

I am actually very relieved he found a good place for his old vehicles , honest mechanic who doesn't rip him off. takes a lot of pressure off me.

body sure is nice on this thing, if I had bough it I'd be stuffing some kind of diesel into it, body is so nice.

no pics yet but was talking to my dad tonite, called him from work.
he started out with a big story that it was going to need too much work to safety and he wasn't going to fix it.

the old fart sure knows how to wind me up.................he's known me a few years I guess that's fairplay.

what a shit head> it needed 1 light bulb . the R vent window I supplied had to be done too but that was all his shop did for the safety.

not bad !!!!!

my dad definitely appreciates this truck. worst part is my brother is getting the use of it. already hauled a couple yard of sewerstone with it, and he has my trailer tied up right now with a couple huge rocks he is putting in for steps to his new addition on the house.

oh well, i'm using his 4wd loader tractor now to help load my trailer with scrap now too.

has the full floating 10.25 rear and should be 12" x3" shoes.

pretty sharp old girl eh? almost a time capsule.

more pics......

primer adhesion isuues......mostly seen in 1991/92 when these trucks were almost new

old friend gave us a set of 16" stainless steel trim rings to dress up the standard hub caps for free. they were still in the packaging

if I would not have rushed this so much on my dad, I could have owned it and had a nice low km 7.3 powerstroke in it already.

he loves the truck and is even thinking about repainting the roof/hoodand top of R fender. starting to wax the paint now and its looking bad where the primer shed the paint.

well I never thought it might come together after losing all my toys but on Friday and old buddy was showing me a 79 bronco from Arizona that was an abandoned project and I noticed a 73-79 4 door cab on the back of the trailer that looked pretty rusty around the roof.

bronco was minty but I took a better look at the crewcab and realized it wasn't from around here. turns out that my buddy brought it up from texas a few years back and sold it to this guy who abandoned the bronco project.

hopefully hear back in the next few days.......?

made my offer and it was stretching my funds but it was a project I had planned for my fleet in the barns. a 4door 79 Bronco! I even had a photochop of my colour combo.....................same exact combo of my 78 I got in June.
so if there is a next one it will be mine, but in dry storage for probably 5 years until I can dig into it.
cross your fingers for me................but don't hurt yourself

cheers James

Time capsule is right James, solid looking truck, can't believe how well preserved it is.

I'm hard pressed to find any rust in the pics, which is saying something for a truck pushing 27 some odd years old. Nice!
