another old diesel

well I'm purchasing another old Ford diesel.
looks rough but solid enough to make it a replacement for Barney, will be picking it up next sunday. its a 2wd diesel crewcab 5spd. lots of km on it but lots of little stuff done to it that would be needed for a safety. multi coloured patch job so it will need some black paint on box and fenders so it won't look so bad. has about 140,000 less km on it than present driver..............

actually looking forward to driving a pickup again, roadnoise in a fullsize diesel van can be a real "rumble " sometimes.

Barney got me 21 mpg last tank on my commute to work, hopefully this powerstroke 5spd will do a little better? 25mpg would be cool!

cheers James

well it looks same as a 92.

will get pics on Sunday when I pick it up. might be Barney's last haul, bringing home his replacement. I'm going to miss the old dinosaur> its mechanically fit but man is the body rough, really started falling apart this winter. at almost 500,000 its ready

I actually have a pair of drop I beams for this thing and have a dually rear end and some dually fenders that would make it very unique. I've seen a few superduty shortbed duallies but never seen a pre superduty short dually, not even a custom one. so many ideas, kids make for so little extra time but its worth it!

cheers james

no disappointments when I picked up.........
did not see the almost new tires on the front. came with a good tailgate> didn't have one on when I looked at it, didn't ask.

was a new wix oil filter and 15litres of premium Napa diesel oil, pair of new shocks still in boxes for the rear sitting on the back seat.

fired right up and drove it onto the trailer, had an intermittent miss when I looked at it. it will be back LOL

happy with purchase so far, now I need to go over it for the safety and assemble some of the unfinished stuff.

cheers James

could use a drivers side rear door and maybe a wheel well repair panel. will prob just do some satin black on the non dark blue stuff and roll with it or maybe find some similar blue rust paint and go to town..................
I'm not restoring it, have a Centurion for that.

might do a 4wd conversion over the summer but that's about all I have planned for it. driver and trailer hauler................................
