Personalized Plate

I'm waiting for delivery of my '11 FX2. Hopefully, it'll be here by the end of January. Can anybody tell me how I go about getting personalized plates right away from the dealer? It seems that it'll be less hassle than having to bring home the truck and then switch them. I assume I'll have to apply to the ministry, but I guess I'll need my VIN to do that.

Unfortunately PitCritter, when it comes to personal plates in Ontario, I don't think the phrase "right away" applies !!

I've had two sets, one for my F150 and one for my Mustang, and each time it's the same long process, got nothing to do with the dealer, it's all MTO.

You have to apply to the Ministry for the plate, they have to screen it to ensure there are no sexual or obscene references and then once they're happy they'll allow the plate to be made up and sent to you by Express Post.

You can get personal plates without a VIN....I did that when I ordered the Mustang.

Get to the MTO and get your application in this week and you might be good for the end of January....not sure, but you might even be able to apply on-line.

Either way - good luck. Any sneak peeks on what you're thinking of getting???

Thanks, I'll get to the ministry this week. As far as the plate goes, nothing too sexy. I'm planning on getting the CDN Masonic logo. AFAIK, I can get that for about $120, but if I want to actually personalize it, it'll cost me another $200+. I'm vain, just not that vain.

my plate was denied at first BLOWNHD and i had to write a letter to someone about the meaning. They thought it meant Blown Hard which to them was a sexual slang.
letter basically said
blown = supercharged
HD= Harley Davidson
They eventually let it thru.
but every time someone ask me what my plate means. they always thinks its BLOWN Hard. so i guess they were right to deny it at first.
It was around 200$ for it one time payment.

Really? Its the Internet take it easy.

If you make the application online, you can find out right away if the plate is already
taken. You still have to wait for approval

+1 on ordering online.

I have ordered to different sets of personalized plates and each time it took the max 8 weeks for them to arrive. Once you get them in the mail take the to any MTO office to have them switched with your regular plates. Easy as pie
