7.3 over the 6.0 but the 7.3 lacks the power of a 6.0... 03/04 cummins were a good engine and made the most hp I believe the newer cummins work but are plagued with electrical and other issues.... stick a cummins in a ford with an allison tranny and its a perfect truck...

7.3's are great but like stated can lacks power but can also make gobs of it. 6.0l great motor if you treat it right and fix the known problems and are a lot easier to make power. And once again cummins are a great motor and can make power even easier. So basically ya I just repeated what said above hahaha sh1t.

7.3 powerstroke is most reliable, but only if you also change the top end oil regularly (highpressure pump oil). it is the only weakness of the 7.3 powerstroke.

if you want simplicity to run, definitely a 12valve 5.9 cummins. not necessarily any more reliable, and suck up the rumbles and shakes.

I have seen many problem 6.0/VT365s that get traded in early because of constant head aches and veryvery costly repairs. they do sound pretty cool when you get one wound up tight though.

6.0 can be reliable...cost money though. I sunk about six grand "in parts" into my motor. I figure it's more reliable than the 7.3 now.

But best of all...it's funner (is that a word?)!

5.9 Cummins, hands down. 6.0L should have been recycled into a honda or ship anchor. Even if treated properly, there are just too many problems (design flaws) to fix. As stated, a 7.3 is a good base to start with.

every engine has there own problems lol

like form 2000-2003 the 7.3 was better then the 6.0
but
in 2004-2007 the 6.0 took over the 7.3 and became the better motor to have
pending u did take care of it and did the oil changes and reg maintenance and every thing else

and i agree a cummapart allison tranny and ford rear end would be an unkillable
but thats a long time away before they do that lo

these 3 engines make their maximum power around 1000rpm apart, so if you want low rpm torque, up to 2500rpm is a 5.9 cummins, power up to 3500rpm is a 7.3 PSD, and up to 4500rpm is a 6.0 PSD (with 6 large bills ready to spend on reliabilty parts)
