What is this?

Hello all...have a look at the photo and let me know what that is.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us
The rubber boot is damaged and looks like it needs replacing. But, I have no idea what it is...my first thoughts was a jake brake, but they are usually on an exhaust right?

Thanks in advance for the help.

I'm betting it's an aftermarket glow plug relay. Take a photo a little further out. Is it a 7.3? Trombetta makes relays, contactors, etc.

2001 F350 CC SWB 6spd....currently getting a complete 'makeover'. Stay tuned.

it's a positive air shut off used in the oil field to shut down the truck in case of a run away, its made by rodadeco and you should be able to get a new hose.

a moments silence for the shelbyx,i hope her new owner enjoys as much.

Uh-oh. Ex-oilpatch truck.

If Princess Auto were a real girl, I'd ask her to marry me.

Thanks a bunch shelbyx1. I would never had guessed. I did some research on how it works and it is a pretty simple design and makes sense...to my understanding this was a Hydro truck.

Another question then...can I just remove it? Or will that cause problems?

My bad. I thought you were referring to the relay/contactor made by Trombetta in your pic.

I was thinking that it would...plus it would give me a good reason to clean out the gunk.
