Hydraulic fluid leaking

Hi,

So I just recently purchased a 2000 Ford Ranger, it is a 5 speed and is 4 wheel drive. Last Friday I took it up the Coquihala highway and out of nowhere I couldn't push the clutch pedal in anymore, it started to make a high pitch squealing sound about 30 seconds after I noticed the pedal. Got it home and noticed I had no hydraulic fluid left in the reservoir thing. A friend and I tried to put some in today, she poured it in while I pumped the clutch, it seemed to be working but then we looked underneath and it was coming out as fast as we were pouring it in. It seems to be leaking right where the transmission and the engine meet...I was told by my friend that sold me the truck that the clutch was nearly brand new 3 months ago so he doesn't see it being that. I am hoping it's not!! Eeek, I hope I explained this well!

Thank youuuu!!

He probably replaced the clutch but didn't do the slave cylinder (thats whats leaking). Its a common issue with the Rangers, and the worst thing about it is that the slave usually goes before the clutch wears out. If you replace the clutch without doing the slave you're just wasting time and money. He might have replaced the slave, then that means that its faulty and you have to pull the tranny out anyways. Frustrating eh?

Do yourself a favour, get up in there as best as possible and check on top of the tranny. You should be able to see where a black plastic line enters the top of the transmission, should be retained by a hitch pin. Check that to make sure that the line hasn't come loose. LR
