2nd gear went on vaca

Yellow everyone... i picked up a 5.4 with trans today and its out of a 2004 super duty. its a 4R100... (guy) i got it from said trans works but, slips in to second gear. ( not a + shift) and slips wile in second. but works fine in 3rd and has firm shift into 4th, OD does work. lookin for some hints to look. borg-warner makes a HD rebuild kit for $650....... so ya im lookin at somthin on the cheep...lol

was thinkin it could be 2nd gear solenoid pack, or pressure valve or clutch,(guy ) thought it would be the band, i said it was .......lol so i got the trans for $150....woot

sounds like a torn seal Philly, will probably have some clutch damage also, just take the pan off to verify, what a steal!!the core is worth more than that.

a moments silence for the shelbyx,i hope her new owner enjoys as much.

it won't be the solenoids, they almost never fail on these units. look for a hung valve in the accumulator body. when you get it together, run a pressure gauge on it to confirm proper line rise. i like to the throw the transgo tugger kit in them as well. and expect to do all the work over again shortly if you don't flush or change the cooler and the change the torque convertor.
