Gidday lads.........i have a '05 F250. i have been having problems with the back-up sensors not working very well. Any advice on how to troubleshoot the system or where to start looking?
All the wiring that go to the 4 sensors looks fine and it has never been touched since the truck was new. I am the original owner.
They just stopped working................I do not see any reference to them in the owners manual for fuses or anything..........
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks....
Thanks for the info............yes the backup lights work....and yes the OFF lamp in the dash now comes on as soon as you shift into reverse.....and yes i have access to a code reader.......where next fellas?
Thanks
if you have just a generic code reader it prob wont read bcm codes,a quick check would be to look at the faces of each sensor making sure they are clean with no blemishes on surface, look at the connectors for each they have a habit of corroding inside the connectors, other then that its off to the dealer toat least read codes.
You will need a code reader that will pull the Ford enhanced codes stored in the PAM.......something like Autoenginuity will do it. It's most likely one sensor is bad. Less likely is the PA module or even the speaker on the PAM. If any part of the system fails, the system shuts down and the 'OFF' light on the PA will illuminate the second you go in reverse.
Not with a multimeter but there is a way that I just remembered. Truck not running, set the parking brake and put in reverse. Then go listen to each sensor....you will hear a faint clicking. The one that doesn't click is your faulty sensor. Try that.
Swap them around to verify it's the sensor and not the wiring or something. Seems unlikely that 2 sensors would go at once. Let me know if you need sensors for sure.
