How to: AFE CAI install on 2004+ F150 5.4L (applies to most CAI)

Alright lets start with the stock system.

Remove the factory air duct by pulling out and away.. It will just pop out

Disconnect the MAF sensor and Valve vent tube, as well any wiring that is clipped to the air box.. (1 @ back by vent tube and 1 @ the front near the bolts holding the air box in place)

Take out the 4 bolts holding the main air box to the intake manifold and slid off the clip hold the wiring/tube to the air box.

Gently pull up on the air box slowly to make sure nothing is still attached.

Remove the factory MAF sensor

Install MAF sensor with the supplied spacer gasket. If you kit some with spacers remember to put in the spacers for the bolts. Also make sure you pay attention to the flow direction arrow on the sensor.. (I've arrowed it in yellow)

Install air box support bracket
removing the 1 bolt hold the coolant resourir in place. then squishing the bracket inbehind it and tightening back up.

Undo the bolt for the fan shroud.. onf left side of engine
then put the airbox in place. Wedging underneath the fan shroud and putting bolt back in

Once in place.. Under the wiring on the left side. and put in bolts and tighten.

Install the support bracket to hold up the air intake tube. Use supplied bolts.

First install the coupler on the throttle body, placing the smaller end down.
Make sure to put the nut for the clamp easily accessable to tighten.
Tighten down to throttle body clamp first.

Slid the other 3 clamps onto the plastic tube.. Make sure the nuts are easily accessable to tighten. then the straight coupler on to the air box or tube.
Then put air tube into place, sliding all 3 clamps into place. and tighten when fully aligned as straight and least amount of stress on couplers.

Remove the whole valve cover vent tube and replace with the supplied hose.

-Then install the filter.. (Check to see if it comes preoiled from the manufacturer)
-Install the 2 bolts from the support bracket to the intake tube to hold from viberating.
-Also plug in the MAF sensor

Then go over all the bolts to make sure everything is tight.

Here's a couple vids for everyone's enjoyment!
Don't really notice it just revving up..
But sure do when your driving!!

Awesome step by step.Looks good too.
I never noticed that the 3V 5.4's throttle body sat right directly on top of the intake.Intersting.

Is the filter similar to the K&N,meanning that is it oil protected to stop the dirt/dust?
What kit is that?Looks like a nice piece.
