WTF - door ripped apart

the unit that attaches the handle to the door has torn the metal out of the door, I'm going to try and weld in a stronger piece of metal but am worried it'll just break again. anyone got any other ideas aside from replacing the door?

the latch that hold the spring and handle attaches to this part of the door. in the top right hole you can see it's been ripped away and now my door handle assembly has no where to attach to on the door.

I'd say if you tack in a new piece you should be good to go.

What other choice do you have really? Gotta gamble the fix will work, or go without the door handle assembly attached.

I reattached the clipbolt to another piece of metal and just put it in behind and tightened it up. Works good for now... if it ever comes loose again I'll tack it in.

Oddly enough, this happened to me a couple of weeks ago. The door had this repair done before i got the truck. I using a couple of fender washers on the inside until a solution for a better repair or replace presents itself. Seems to be holding up okay for now, though.
