Reverse light upgrade

Ok I've been doing a bit of searching and found that you can mod an 894 bulb to fit into the 921 socket, the other option is a set of Cree LED 921 bulbs. Just looking to see if anyone has any thoughts on either. I tried some LEDs that I had ordered for the side markers, license plate lights and interior lights in the rear but found them to be no better than stock. So not too sure if the cree LEDs will be better or not. Also not sure about the 894s being too hot for the housing(not that they will be on very long though)

I did the 894 mod. I've noticed some melted housings a bit. And light output on the ground made no difference.

Cree led are way better quality, however there is so many different types and luminous flux output. Also how the led is wired in the bulb will also change the output. LEDs are simple yet very complex. There are different type of Cree LEDs used which will differ the output substantially.

I started a project to add a reverse tailgate light bar but haven't finished due to other projects and such.

If it didn't take so long for me to upload pics on here I'd go get a picture of my truck. Currently I have the same as lumberjack had but they're on the roof. Haha. You'd love em.

Maybe I'll start with the 894 mod. I think a buddy has a few of them at his shop in the "have them just incase but will never use them drawer" of his toolbox
