Welcome, I'm not sure what changes were made between generations, I think when you're talking an almost ten year span, plus 2WD vs 4WD, chances are not good.

Then again, i don't know for certain, I've been wrong before.....why swap struts ?

Why swap ?

My truck is 2006, these struts are off newer 2015 complete strut pair for 100$
thought Id get a slight lift and stronger spring rate.
Owner put 6 inch lift into his truck

They might work. The 4wd shock will be longer, I'm just not sure how that will mess with the rest your suspension components.

Putting a 4x4 shock/strut in a 2wd truck, if the 4x4 one is longer, is going to bottom out before hitting the rebound bumpers (please feel free to correct my terminology for this.) This will lead to damage at both ends of the strut and possibly shear something off. Best bet is to look up the strut/shock part numbers for both vehicles and compare. If the same part number is used for both across several websites then go for it. If not, then more intricate technical specifications need to be examined. Length extended, length collapsed, diameters, bolt configurations, support hardware, etc...
