You know on a side note to prices on pads and such. I used to work at the Cold Lake Can tire, in the autoparts section. The saddest part of it all was when a "Cold Lake Local" would come in and ask for the CHEAPEST brake pads, meanwhile standing there with his 5 kids. Now, being me, I would look at him, look at his kids, and say "are you sure you want to put that crap on your car, knowing you have kids in your car".

Now, being a parent, i think we have an OBLIGATION to do whatever it takes to keep our kids safe, that includes putting GOOD brake pads on our cars, in order to safetly stop to avoid an accident, or to avoid hitting a kid that decides to run out in the road. Am i being silly here? Do i make sense?

Also, when a "local"..comes in asks for shocks...and i tell him they are any where from Ex. 55 bucks to 110 each, and he says..."GIVE ME ONE"...ONE? YOU WANT ONE SHOCK??? holy crap man..ONE SHOCK? well if you have crappy brakes and one good shock on that car..well i'm not asking for a ride, and well, i think your kids are better off walking.

my 2 cents...i'm done now..LOL

Call John at (604)613-5396. He's the guy on CL selling brake parts cheap (they're good quality, he's just a one man show selling them so his costs are low). I replaced pads, rotors, calipers, drums, shoes, and wheel cylinders on my '93 for about $400. Pretty hard to beat that.

I guess its also a bit of a sales pitch for him since he's my dad's neighbour too lol. LR

The biggest thing about John's stuff is the pads and shoes. The rotors and drums are good, as with the calipers and wheel cylinders (Italian made). The pads and shoes are marked as Tri-Union (Chinese I think) and I'm finding that they're wearing faster than usual. He also markets them as low dust, and thats not true. Other than that they stop just fine and haven't cracked nor separated on me. LR

Ended up ordering the Power Slot Cryo rotors and Hawk ceramic pads for all 4 corners. The only hurting thing is my brakes are toast and I have to wait 3-4 weeks for delivery because of the cryo treating since they only do the treatment as they are ordered.
