Rear diff

will a rear diff from a 2001 fit a 98 f150

Can't see why not. Are you talking about the whole housing or just the ring/pinion part? Should be able to swap a 9.75" from truck to truck..same as the 8.8" Not sure about swapping a 9.75 in favour of an 8.8 tho, or vice versa...gotcha confused yet?

I would think all 97-03 and 04 heritige rear diffs are the same width, in '99 and up rear diff's have the VSS on the rear axle not on the transmission so either you take it out and plug it or leave it in and not hooked up your choice, but if you have a 8.8 in there and want a 9.75 this is a option too
